Thinking about selling my 2004 Prerunner to buy a 2023 and wondering what you guys think I might be able to get for it in this market? Here’s the details…

I am located in Cali(SF Bay Area), it has 216k and I’m the original owner. Exterior has a few dings here and there but no major dents. I put the TRD Pro rims on it 18 months ago with General Grabber tires.

Within the last 12-18 months I have replaced the rack, upper and lower ball joints, Bilstein 5100s all the way around, ujoints and carrier bearing, front and rear brakes, OME front springs and Deaver J59 springs in the back, new radiator, Firestone airbags in the rear and just did the timing belt 9k ago.

Interior is clean, there is a small rip in the seam of drivers seat I’m gonna have fixed next week. Other than that interior is in great shape just needs a detail job. I have a Kenwood head unit, Amp, JL audio stealth box and all the door speakers were replaced with JBLs 2yrs ago.

I know it’s not a 4x4 and that detracts from the value but I’m curious what you guys think I might be about to get for this thing?

In the Bay Area? I'd probably start at 18k and see what kind of offers you get. I'm guessing that would be a 10-12k here in flyover country, maybe 12-15k in California? Looks like it's in good shape.

When I first started thinking about selling it I was thinking 12ish but then my buddy told me 14-15k and that shocked me… Makes sense to list it at 18k and see what’re it goes, I can always say no to the low ballers…

    Thanks for the response…

Was watching this one and surprised by how much it went for considering it sold last year for $19,500! There was a similar truck with under 19k miles that sold earlier in the year for about the same, so figured this one would end up at least a few grand under that given it has a lot more miles. Prices are going up rapidly.

Think i would of liked to see more pics of the frame if I'm bidding that high. Apparently the winning bidder was a no show. Maybe he just now noticed the check engine light and A/T oil temp light. The bid goes on!

    Columbia, eh?

so you buy $270k worth of coke and they throw in a free FJ?

Do they hide the coke in the door panels for you, or do you have to do that yourself?

My '98 4WD Xtra Cab is currently listed on Bring a Trailer with a couple days left to go. It's a 1-Owner, 91k miles, all original & rust-free. Of course I would be thrilled if it went for a crazy price like most of the others on there, but I'm just hoping it goes for a solid price and the winning bidder actually follows through! If nothing else it should serve as another glimpse into the current 1st Gen 4WD market.

Jordan motorsports has several first gens listed at $30k-35k, most have less than 100k miles but at least one at 150k miles. I'm very suspicious that they actually sell anywhere close to this. I check craigslist Bay Area regularly and I usually see several very nice 1st gens, even locked V6 4x4 TRD's with less than 200k miles listed at about $15k avg. Its just that they are not detailed to a high level and probably have some paint defects.

Really depends on the area. My truck isn't worth shit here in NC, maybe could get $5k. Back home in WI, could probably get $8kish. Visiting a friend in CO, could sell it in an hour for $10k.

    2001, v6, 4wd, at, extended cab, e locking diff, 196k mi.

I live in NC and I sold my 3rd gen 4Runner for 8500 in a day a year ago. Same year as your Tacoma. I had 20 offers for it that day. Tacomas are worth more so you could probably sell it for 8k and someone will buy it fast.

I hadn't looked at FB marketplace in a while, but it looks like your estimate is more accurate. Wow, wasn't like that last year.

I bought mine pretty rusted out for 8k and 234k miles on it. Ive put about $2500 in it and adding up to little more at a time but I've gotten just about everything fixed/replaced now. waiting on my steering links from Mcgeorge before i rebuild the front end next. I also have a 2004 base 2wd long bed that I'm about to sell... it only has 33,650 miles ;)
