From monitoring this thread, @MGMSangTaco used Boss 315 RTV sealant. I also apparently own Permatex 82180 black RTV silicone gasket maker. I believe any silicone sealant will do just fine, best to use it than not use it.

Maybe someday I'll actually buy a roof rack :)

I agree Permatex Black RTV silicone. That’s what I used when I mounted a Baja Rack flat utility rack ok my Tacoma DCSB.

I had to drill holes into my ditch channel and use some of the factory threaded holes to mount tracks. Rhino Rack provided the butyl pads and I added the silicone before riveting the holes I drilled or before installing the button bolts.

I got mines from the dealer. I’m selling it though to get a retrax cover so I can mount bed racks. I think there’s a “group buy” going for retrax right now.

Edit : PM @Santana@Realtruck for the retrax if interested

That kinda looks exactly like a roll n lock. How is this product compatible for a bed rack?

The bed rail sides are normally flat, the xr has replacement plates that has a rail on top.

That southern style one with forward and side leds appear to be an awesome price .

My pleasure. The list keeps growing!

And, when I get the time I will do a write up on each one as I make my decision on which way to go !

So many great choices and so many great companies !

    :)

I agree with you. A few of the notes that I have collected on that rack that I wanted to pass along. Just trying to be helpful:

    1) I believe the company is in Baton Rouge, LA. I track where the company is headquartered in case folks want to drive by there and pick up their rack -- potentially saving on shipping or getting help with an install.

    2) One key point is they position this rack as having a low profile. That is a big deal for a lot of people who have tight garage rooflines or need or want a rack that is as low profile as possible. In fact, they note that the rack is only 1.875 inches taller than the OEM roofline of the truck. Seems to be very low profile.

    3) Specs are as as follows (by the way, I love a company that provides this info so openly): 570 lb. static weight, 300 lb. while in motion. Rack weights 49 lbs. Very respectable.

    4) They have an excellent install video that is very helpful and I really like how the rack mounts to the truck and how the sidebars mount. Worth watching the video.

In short, if you are looking for a roof rack, this one should be on your short list.

    :)

    Thank you!
So, I am going to install my roof rack tomorrow. Is there an install video that shows how and where to use the silicone? All the OEM I install videos I have found, don't show the use of silicon anywhere....just the supplied washers.

Also, should I replace the supplied washers with something different?

    Thanks for any guidance...
