Switch Pros 9100 install and BS thread

Here is my switch pro set up:
1-Roof Light-bar
2-A Pillar
3-Fog
4-Rock
5-Amber Flood
6-Amber Spot
7-EMPTY
8-Air

I've got a lot of my bases covered, and definitely enough light in front of the truck.
I'm curious what else would you guys install for switch 7?
I was considering some "chase" lights mostly for blizzards and assholes. But they aren't really necessary. I've also got bright reverse lights so don't necessarily need much more light behind me. I could just leave this slot blank but it would be nice to have it all filled in.

I just mounted some Diode Dynamics SSC2 Sports facing rearward on my RCI roof rack. Still need to wire them in, but they should be good for aux reverse lights as well as lighting up the bed and surrounding areas at night like when I'm hooking up the camper or working at my family's hunting property. Also good for "F U" lights if someone is being clueless or spiteful with their high beams.

 

The setback was a trade-off I think I'm willing to make to keep them low profile within the frame of the rack. I have LED bedlights installed in the factory locations to help the cargo light fill that gap a bit. Once I get the KC wire hider in that I ordered, I can get them wired up to my switchpros and see just how good or bad they will be. I will say that I wish DD didnt make the lenses only able to install a particular way. I had to trim the tabs on one lens so that I could have the flood portion of the lens inboard on both lights.

 

this is actually similar to what I had in mind. Since it’s a multi purpose set up it seems to fit different situations. I do have a cap installed so have to figure out the best way to mount them... might go with this option. Thanks

I'd like a good quality kit with heat shrink too if anybody has recommendations.

 

I don’t see why this kit wouldn’t work. I ordered a kit like this off Amazon along with heat shrink and fuses and they all work fine.

 

What I use also. The same company makes heat shrink variety packs in clear, red, and black. I use their crimper also -- has a lot of options, good for Metri-Pack, these heat shrink terminals, etc. No issues with quality x 1.5 years.

i also use a lot of wirefly stuff for my electrical work. love their heat shrink. i get the 3:1, double wall, adhesive lined

 

sorry if this has been asked already but would this work for the 2020’s OEM LEDs with the harness from @daveeasa ? Will having the led with harness change where to tap into?

 

I have built custom OEM LED conversion harnesses for one or two others with an added high beam for the pink Switch-Pros trigger. It’s basically a fancier version of the grille light conversion harness. Figure about 150 for something like that. I forget who I’ve done them for.

 

And in case the question was more for factory LED, I can do a 4 position LED T harness too, figure +$15 or so with an independent amp feed to Switch-Pros all color coded.

 

I guess my question is where else I can tap into under the fuse box for the white LIGHTS wire?

I tapped blue wire to INJ but since I have the LED conversion harness I’m not sure if it’s still safe to tap the white wire into the headlight low fuse?

 

Oem white is high beam. White on Switch-Pros is meant to be parking light. But parking light fuse is in the cab. Low beam is an acceptable substitute. The trigger current draw is negligible.

i personally dislike add a fuse because it feels messy in the fuse box to me. But you gotta do what you do and I’m not keen on milking people for upsells.

I would be game to swap a regular for a Switch-Pros conversion harness for maybe $40 though.

 

Thanks @daveeasa. I’d take you up on that if I wasn’t already in it and in need of my truck. Just need to wire battery cables and I’ll be good.

I ended up going with add a fuse the blue ignition wire to the INJ and white LIGHTS wire to the headlight in fuse box. Not utilizing trigger wire for now. Agree with you, it’s not the cleanest look but I didn’t want to run any more wires through the cab.

 

Yeah if not using the pink aux trigger I’d add a fuse on the low beam. Good enough and simple.

if you want the high beam trigger down the road we can re-route white and pink to the headlight conversion harness.

definitely no fun to run unnecessary wires through the firewall.

I use a set of harnesses from Dave for my OEM LEDs with all the taps for my switch-pros and raptor lights. Super simple and no splicing of factory wires. Can't recommend them enough.
