Maybe my searching skills are failing me, but I am interested in retro fitting the hard top tri fold OEM tonneau cover for my 2022 TRD Off Road short bed. I can see some threads where some are being offered for sale, and normally that would be fine, but I am in SE MI and most are all west coast.

What I haven't found was the actual part numbers for everything needed to do the retro fit, seems there may be a few more pieces than just the cover to make it work? Anyone able to shed some light on me? :pccoffee:

Seems to be a factory installed option only.... So as soon as I hit that 50 post mark, I'll head over to the BST section and toss out a WTB post.

Better off with aftermarket cover. Only a few care for it. I for one hate it. Fit, and finish is bad, it leaks, and fades. Plus it's not to lite. A tree just fell on mine a week ago. So happy it did. Now MX4 on order.

I was all excited to get a factory hard cover on my truck, until I saw one and realized that you lose a third of your bed and anything that goes underneath the very front would be next to impossible for me to reach. Ironically it was the guy selling it that pointed it out to me. It also required me to swap bed rails with his as mine were uncut and he didn't want the cut rails on his. I was happy he was honest with me about why he was selling it and the negatives about the situation as it saved me from making a mistake for my needs.

I ended up going with a Truxedo soft cover. It's not as secure as I would like but it keeps the prying eyes off my tools and is easy to use.

There are lots of options out there. Some of the pace-edwards stuff is real nice and secure.... but not inexpensive.

I got one and love the bakflip way better than OEM. Had both, got OEM first and it leaked like crazy and cracked very quickly just by closing it. Replaced it with an MX4 and love it. No leaks and you can fold it all the way to access all of the bed. You can’t with OEM. Only downside to MX4 is that you have to lower your OEM brackets to mount and when you do, I don’t think things like the OEM bed divider will fit anymore because the rails are lowered to low.

The problems with Paceedwards are, in cold climates the box where in roll into freezes up. Then the cover, won't open. Had one one anF350. Had to open box up and remove chucks of ice, for it to operate.

I live about 25 miles from where they are made, here we get a lot of rain and maybe 5-10 days of snow a year. They close the schools if they think it might snow...
I could see how that could be a huge issue in cold climates. I know a guy who works there. I'll ask him what his thoughts are... He will probably tell me something like they make a 1500$ heater option... lol

I thought about a heat tape in there, when I had mine. Plugged truck in all the time (diesel) anyway during the winter.

What are you guys' thoughts on the Bakflip F1 vs the MX4? I live in SE Michigan, so weather is always changing.

And there is the LoMax. I live in WI and mine has been through 3 winters on 2 different trucks. Whatever you decide to go with reach out to Luke at Truck Alterations as I think he can get whatever you want at a discount.

Did the backflip cover the gaps in the bedrails that the OEM hardware uses? That was my concern with getting rid of my OEM cover.

Just want to say I went ahead and picked up the F1 and installed it today, couldn't be happier. Will drill some grommeted drain holes tomorrow for the drain lines.

Looks great. Not a big fan of needing to drill holes and run water lines drainage. Don't have that with the LoMax.

Thanks. Not the end of the world, seems a common thing to have in beds it seems, holes for drains. BUT, I %100 agree, would have been nice to not have to add them.
