So pretty much every toyota truck I had was a trd off road because of the rear locker and I have always been a firm believer in having the right tools for the job.

My 2nd gen regular cab 2.7 liter 4x4 5speed obviously didn't have a locker so of course I got locker envy. At first I wanted an e locker but not too many people had one and I didn't want to be the guinea pig, it seemed most on here have the arb as far as after market lockers go so I purchased one

I bought the twin compressor and rd129 diff locker for about 1900 after taxes then I read I needed the manifold which was another 90

So then I realized I needed a mounting bracket, I searched online and guys like slee and cbi only make it for the v6 not my 4 banger so I decided to do the bed cubby mount from wheelers off road (all pro) the mount itself was 120ish but I wanted everything to look clean and oem as possible so I had to purchase the cubby door and frame from another 100 and buy the extended harness for another 300

And since I wanted everything to look oem I bought switches from ch4x4 for another 40

Once everything was scourced I needed a shop to do the install and not any Joe can do it, luckily I found premier gears west in riverside California (down street from me) and the guys did superb top notch work

They quoted me 1100ish for the labor and when I dropped it off they suggested new bearings so I gave the ok. With the bearings and labor I ended up paying about 1500

So with everything said and done I am a bit disappointed with myself. The guys did absolute fantastic work it looks clean and great but I wish I did more research on the locker. Talking to the guys at the shop they said the seals still leak inside the locker and it's just luck if mine does or doesn't. They said arb won't really standby their product and they recommend the eaton e locker. I purchased everything from 4wheelparts before even talking to the shop so none of this is their fault and I hope i don't get a leak. They said it would cost about 500 in labor if I do get a leak

So all in all I paid about 4k for parts and labor and if arb made a solid legit product I would totally be happy with that but now I'm always going to be scared of hitting my compressor switch and hearing it cycle constantly (sound of leak)

So if you're reading this doing research, i highly recommend premier west gears, they're top notch I highly do not recommend arb, talk to them and or multiple gear shops before deciding who you go with and happy wheeling
