Now that I have the place to do it I need to come up with a good way of displaying them.

I was thinking about getting some aluminum angle iron or something to use as thin strip shelving as I like having them open box so I can hold them in my hands, look them over appreciate the details and whatnot; play with them sure, but I just don't know of a particularly good way of displaying them.

Then there's the overarching issue of if I have them out in the open they become very difficult to dust, I had maybe 20 or 30 or so at one point on little angle shelf and gentle as I would try to dust them next thing you know you got 15 cars falling off the wall.

Was thinking of making some sort of display case with a glass front but haven't been able to come up with a way that would make the glass easily removable to get access, or find a pre-built display shelf that's thin enough.

I have somewhere around 2000 cars to display if I had to guess.

30ish years of off and on collecting.

If I see one that peaks my interest I pick it up.

Keeping dust off of them was a problem when I first started collecting. I eventually bought the enclosed case’s to put them in. Still waiting on that hot wheels room!

Several years ago I built a bunch of boxes as a display for my Jack Daniel's collection and have since changed it over to a HW display. I'm using hard plastic cases to display them in that are easily opened but will keep the cars themselves clean. I get the clear boxes at Hobby Lobby which sells them in a box of 6 cases for $9.99 which is pricey for the amounts we are talking about. Hobby Lobby has regular sales on these and I usually get them at 40 to 50% off.

I've also found a place online that you can get them in bulk but I haven't ordered from them yet.

    https://www.pioneerplastics.com/sho...cars/164-scale-diecast-display-case-164c-6pk/

Here's a few of them stacked up for reference

These 3 F100s are recent editions. I have 6 of these so far and see that a black version was just released and I am still trying to find the pea green and pea green and white F100s.' I used to own a 70 F100 that looked like the blue and white one in the pictures below. Welly makes these and they are debatable with their details so I made a lot of changes which includes missing trim, wheel swaps, and even new tailgate inserts which came Moebus model kits that I had decals left over from. They dont even finish the taillights or include the vent windows which I had to make. These are my favorite trucks and wish I never sold the 1970 I had. I sold it to a guy who worked at the Chrysler plant near us and he drove it to work one day where it was stolen. How do you hide something like that? For years I have watched for it at the car shows including the F100 Nationals I attend near and far. I built that truck and would know it if I see it. One of the first vehicles I ever drove was an F100, looked a heck of a lot like that blue and white one except the blue was kind of a minty green.

A couple weeks ago we had a huge yard sale and I set out a lot of this stuff and lucked out getting a couple package deals for sales. I was able to sell off about half of what I was letting go. Honestly what I post over the next few weeks is just going to be given away unless someone here wants it. All I ask is that you pay the shipping. The regulars on this link will get first dibs.

The Harry Gant 33 Skoal Bandit Lumina was released in the mid 90s and as you can see it is in extremely good condition. The Richard Petty STP Grand Prix was released a few years earlier and is just as nice and not faded Both are 1/18 diecasts. Everything else is smaller.
These are both heavy so shipping maybe more. I can get you an estimate with your zip code.

Maybe some others would be interested in doing this as well. It defeats the purpose of even having these if they just get chucked into a box and sit in the basement like these were. Maybe someone else maybe interested in what you dont want anymore. I have 10 or 12 more to post if there is any interest in these.

Another reason for letting some of this go is because I am inheriting over 300 models from my brothers father in law soon. I was just offered his collection which includes kits still in the box.

0 response on the give aways which is fine. Ill be dropping them off at Goodwil next week along with a huge Nascar collection of trading cards. This is what happens when you buy and buy thinking they will be an investment. Nascar destroyed the market for this stuff when they flooded it and then gouged the fans ever since at events since the 1990s. I got out of it but could never sell this stuff off. There will be more going when I need the room. There isn't much I still intend to keep.

When you buy something do it because you like it. I have a friend who bought because he he wanted one of everything Hot Wheels made including all the color variations since the mid 90s. He has a basement full of totes that he says are an investment. I think he is going to be disappointed.

That was me. I used to be a Nascar fan back in the 70s after getting to spend part of my workday shuttling AJ Foyt around town after his conversion van broke down and was at the dealership where I worked. He used to race in Nascar and Indy cars. I got crazy buying stuff in the late 80s and early 90s because I could. I had to have it. It got worse because I then started to buy nicer pieces of the same car convinced these would be worth something someday. It wasn't just Nascar. It became any car. My model collection was already bad enough. Before I knew it I had our third bedroom packed and was building more shelves in the garage. The totes and boxes were filling up in the garage and basement. About 10 years ago I looked around and said what the hell.
I have sold off about half of my collection, but it took several years. I'm down to that one bedroom and 4 shelves in the garage. That inheritance I have coming will be another mess to get through. I was told there are 300 models most being Mopars. I can't pass on this, but I wonder what I will and won't be keeping. I gripe about not being able to find anything in the stores and then something like this happens.

Sounds like a good problem to have.. just have to decide what is most important to you.. and let go of the things that you can.. and you have to space to keep the things you can't let go of !

Recently completed Welly 1/24 diecast 39 Chevrolet Gasser. This car came as a street rod that sat at stock height. I swapped out the wheels and made a straight axle front suspension with aluminum ink pen cartridges, rear leaf springs from my parts box and other misc. Also installed a moon tank, ditched the front bumper and hood. With the velocity stacks on top of the blower the hood didn't fit anymore anyway. Also added the stainless fire wall and detailed the interior and suspension. Pretty happy with what I got.

One of the ones I got is from the same collection, 3/10 or something like that. I’ll have to go back to the store and hunt through a bit better!

Actually it looks like some of the the ones you just picked up are last year's releases.. if you look on the back of the card about halfway down it will say 2020 on them. The ones being released this year say 2021 on them.
