I have been running a Ranch cap on my DCLB for the past 12 months and have had some issues with the paint rubbing off. I think this is because the bed/cap are not perfectly square relative to each other and my initial install was just a little off, allowing the left rear edge of the cap to rub (I dislike the skirted cap design for this reason). Anyhow, the truck is in the shop having some body work done and I am thinking of putting a strip of foam tape on the top of the bedsides before reinstalling the cap. Has anyone done something similar?

Isn't that how it should be? A foam tape to avoid metal friction. I never installed a cap on a pick up truck, but my jeep hardtop has the foam tape.

PICS? would really help to findout where it is rubbing off?, my bed has plastic rails over all 4 sides.
