Hi! Planning on picking up an '08 soon and noticed some rust on the bottom of the frame. Based on these stills I grabbed from a video, can anyone tell if this is an issue I need to worry about?

Trying to get better ones. Currently in the Pacific Northwest. Somewhere in the Midwest originally.

Check the frame rails on the inner edge near the first set of catalytic converters. That’s where the holes are most often found

We need a “how to check a frame” sticky. Complete with tool list, pics and key areas to check.
No, this isn’t me volunteering to write it up..

From what I can see, and that isn’t much, those lower control arm bolts haven’t been touched in a long time. They are know to seize and be a bear to get out. That is if you can, and don’t have to cut them out.

With out more pics of the actual frame, it’s hard to say on the rust.

I would think about it. But it would be better demonstrated on a rust sample, not a spiffy frame like mine that still has all its stickers......:D

I don’t think that taking it to a Toyota Dealership and inquiring about a pre-purchase inspection would be a bad idea. I bet the service writer and tech could careless who’s truck it is. And those guys probably know exactly where to look.

    $200 is a lot cheaper than $10,000+

It went into Toyota for a pre-purchase inspection last month but I didn't see anything about the frame on there?

It wouldn’t be on the mpi sheet, check your receipt should be a line item on there. Preform a frame inspection.
