Is there a difference between the TRD Pro Knob like in the picture from Toyota versus say aftermarket one like on Ebay or Amazon, besides price

The oem shift knob has “TRD” stamped on it and most replicas don’t.

I got one from Amazon for $25 with the red TRD stamping. Looks and feels as good as my friend who has the Pro. I don't see or feel any difference in the two. Some knock offs don't have the red all ready on there for you.

The OEM Pro knob has the TRD logo plate on the back - the letters aren't red. I added the vinyl red insert letters on mine before ultimately wrapping parts in Army Green vinyl and changing the letters to black. As noted, most of the replicas don't have the TRD logo - probably to defer Toyota from issuing a cease and desist letter. I haven't seen anyone complain about the replicas' quality.

Oh wow, the TRD pro knob does look good! I tried to look on Amazon but don't know what one will have the TRD logo on it... I've seen a ton on AliExpress too but again, they blank out the logo so I don't know if it comes with it. Anyone have a legit buyer that they have purchased from that they know has the TRD logo?

Ahhh sorry, I should have specified... I'm cheap, so I'd like to try to get a "fake" one of possible... But I'll check eBay.

I bought the "Faux" skid plate and I swear it's OEM... Looking at the welds of my buddies TRD Pro to mine, I would put money on it. Same thing though, the "TRD" logo came with 2 pieces of metal covering the TRD... It's almost like they didn't want customs scanners to see the TRD logo? So weird...

Before you pull the trigger on that keep in mind it's shipping from China so you may not see it for a couple of months. As long as you're not in a rush, go for it. You're only risking $39.

Haha thanks for the heads up! Your so right, maybe to play it safe I'll see how much more the OEM one is... I have the leather package so my knob has nice leather I like "feeling up" the knob sometimes when I'm driving ... I feel like I'm going to regret this post in the future hahahah

Ok that's just way too easy so I'm gonna ignore it. Others may not be as kind LOL.

I got the OEM knob about a year ago and as I recall it was around $90. Probably a bit more now.

You know what, I'm such a dummy...I'm the guy that paid over $3000 for the "TRD lift kit" (that I probably wouldn't recommend if I had to do it over again...I had my own reasons, but looking back, it was a waste of money) yet I don't want to pay $90 for something I'm going to touch twice everytime I get in my truck haha...

Why not keep the OE one you have instead of replacing it with a knock off?

Or get the OEM Pro if you want to replace the one you have.

That isn't a true OEM shift knob. The originals don't have red lettering. People love to throw in OEM to make it look authentic.

    Here's a link to a genuine Toyota one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/334177992706?fits=Submodel:TRD+Pro|Model:Tacoma&epid=672258637

Ya I think you're right... Well, wait a sec, does the TRD Pro have leather on the top, or is it like a synthetic fabric...from the pics it looks like leather

Getting the OEM TRD Lift Kit isn't dumb, it's a choice. It's the only lift that will keep the warranty on your suspension in tact. Yea, there are lifts where you could probably get more for your money but you'd be out of pocket for any suspension repairs. I can understand why people opt to go that route. I have a 4x2 long bed so I couldn't get one even if I wanted to, which I don't. No reason to lift. The terrain you see in my avatar pic is probably the extent of the off-road terrain I will encounter, and stock does just fine.

I went for the OEM knob and paid the extra to keep it OEM. YMMV.

Feels like leather to me, so I'd say yes.

Drives me nuts to see all these knockoffs but be allowed to have the real part # in the title. Friggin chinese crap. Buy the real thing (even if it ultimately is made in China anyways lol)

My personal reasons were safety... I know a lot of people have changed their front grills sensors with zero issues, but my family sometimes drives the truck, and I wanted to make sure it was calibrated (which I don't even know if they truly calibrate the sensor for the lift) and knowing it's under warranty.

So yes your right it was a choice...it's sooooo hard to say because I do like the handling now from OEM, but maaaaan the price....
