So my Tacoma came with a aftermarket Bluetooth system built into the disc channel on the stock stereo. It is a “M.COSTA” system and has worked great in the past.

I was driving up to Maine and it switched on its own from Disc to FM radio. I didn’t think much of it until I tried to press the Disc button to bring me back to the Bluetooth station it was unresponsive.

I tried again with no luck, before I tear my whole dash apart I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the system or a similar issue? I may try to reset my battery terminals and see if anything resets.

I had a similar system attached to my 6 disc stock radio for a few years. Didn't use it all that much, but one day went I went to use it, it did nothing.

That's when I figured it was time to upgrade the stock radio. I went with the Joying 8" head unit. After spending some time tinkering with the different menus and figuring out what was what, I am pleased with it. I can't say it's for everyone, but in general it's a very nice upgrade. I now have access to hundreds (maybe a thousand) of songs.

Taking the radio out to check connections is not really "tearing the dash apart". Four 10mm bolts.

I just swaped my 2014 OEM head unit for a Kenwood DMX from Crutchfield. Had them do the harness for $24. Plug and play.
