Are there any issues going from an OEM tonneau cover to an aftermarket? I know there are some modifications from the factory for the OEM hard cover, but do those limit a potential aftermarket version like the bakflip or a retractable one? Thanks

I would like to know that myself as my recently acquired 2020 has a factory Tacoma tonneau cover, that leaks in the middle in 4 places, badly might I add.

Shouldn't be a problem, I have the OEM hard cover The bed side top plastic rail protectors have 6 slots cut in them to allow the mounting bolts to fit. Once u remove the bolts, u will see the cutouts. Can either buy new top rails or live with it. No other issues.

Should be fine. I’d recommend getting the regular bed rails but they’re a bit pricey. Can likely take up and seal the cutouts. I went to a diamondback from the OEM but swapped bed rail caps with the buyer so don’t have any first hand experience with it
