Bought my 2006 Tacoma Access 4WD SR5 and it has some things that needs to be done before starting to install upgrades.

    1. Fix the cruise control
Story was when I bought it, the owner said the cruise control did not work and he said he was SURE it was just a fuse. After some research, the cruise control is connected to 3-5 fuses, all necessary for the truck to work properly.

Came by a thread here talking about it. It lead me away from buying a new cruise control

      My solution

    2. Frame improvement
Treat the frame, remove the bed and go over the frame. Remove rust and then treat the frame.

    3. Replace front Sway Bars and replace right Outer CV Axle
Had Kitti for an inspection and these are 2 things that are soon in need to be replaced
Sway Bars I am looking to get at RockAuto
CV Axle I am looking to get from RockAuto
Will need to purchase Jack and Jack Stands

    4. Repair the front bumper or replace
Casually looking to see if I can buy a used front bumper and then re-paint it
Considering just fixing it as wellIMG_20220703_084145.jpg

    5. Replace front grill
I dont know what I want to do with it yet

    6. Fix tailgate
Do not know if I should try fixing it or replace it with a used one and paint it. Still thinking about it
      IMG_20220703_084118.jpg

    7. New all weather floor mats
    8. Fix the hood
Hood has paint falling off, the edge at the front is bad. Need to fix the paint and then want to add a hood guard

    9. Door sill protector
The paint is worn off, need to add paint and then add some protector tape or mat.

    10. Gas Door
Amazed what this cost, about $100 CAD for the door. It still works, only has one hinge.
    And more :)

Finished the Cruise control. Ordered this Spiral Cable Clock Spring for about $40 CAD ($30 USD). I know it is not OEM, if it breaks again, I will buy an OEM.

Followed this video on how to replace it

And after replaced it, it worked :D

For the rust and frame, I have been looking at: How to PROPERLY Undercoat A Rusted Car or Truck

Going to use B'laster 128-SS Surface Shield, heard a lot of great things about it and going to mix Graphite Powder to make the coating black, because I think it looks better :)

Those 2 things are on their way, going to order Woolwax Pro Undercoating Gun. Since I want to undercoat Kitti once a year to prevent a rusted frame.
Need to buy or borrow an air compressor.

Without the air-compressor, I budgeted around $350-$400 CAD ($270-$310 USD)

Was considering getting Rust Cutter Spray to convert any rust into a hardened metal, I don't know if thats worth it or not.

#3 - sway bar and CVs

    - skip your plan of rock auto.
Sway bar put a posting on up BC Toyota Facebook asking for one in trade for a six pack. -lots of people remove them and drive fine without with upgraded suspension.
-CV you’d be better off buying from a wrecker to get OEM ~$150 a side.

Got my hands on a used bumper. Going for a matt black finish, the same as the back bumper.

02-2ndHand bumper fixing-05.jpgGuess I am going with a white bumper...

    Removing the old bumper.
noticed 2 things... was missing a bunch of screws and Bumper Cover Clips...
    03-Removing old bumper-05.jpg
The bumper is off. Looks really cool without the bumper :D

    03-Removing old bumper-04.jpg
Also noticed that the headlamps was "costumed" attached to the bumper

At least I did not have to be careful of the bumper when removing them

    04-Fixing side bumper-02.jpg
Sadly I broke the bolt holding the mount. Removed the mount and saw of the other side of the bolt sticking out.

Sadly do not have a picture of it, I cut out the square hole, the lamp fits really tight in there and then I used a pipe clamp to attach it and making sure it wouldn't fall out.

This is the 2 side bumpers I used. 1 was from the old bumper and one from the new one

    04-Fixing side bumper-03.jpg
I tried using 2 epoxy glue to fix the holes/scratches... not a great idea...

    04-Fixing side bumper-04.jpg
Used this stuff instead. Worked out way better. Still needed to sand A LOT!

Last time I checked... they should be straight...

    IMG_20220819_144247.jpg
The metal is cracked right through and rust is started to have a party.

    01-2nd hand new tailgate.jpg
Picked this one up for $150 CAD from a pick and pull. Next project is to fix my tailgate. Sadly the lock is not working.
