I previously owned a 2010 4 cyl regular cab. Absolutely loved it but it was impractical being a manual (my wife can’t drive and I don’t have the patience to teach her…trust me I tried), and a two seater (have two small dogs). As such, when I ordered my 2022 I thought the access cab would be sufficient since I don’t have kids and rarely have people in the back seat. Has anyone regretted getting the access cab? What has your experience been when you did have people in the back? I’ve only been in a double cab, and thought I’d rather have a longer bed than two full seats that wouldn’t get used very often.

The access cab should work out well for two small dogs. people not so much. I think you will enjoy it. Having the long bed is awesome!

No one can really answer this for you.

I know I don't miss my access cab one bit. It's a little thing but I hated having to open two doors just to get my dogs in and out, groceries in or out, etc.

I can also drive my friends around now which is a pro and con. Ha.

Went from a regular cab S15 to an access cab Tacoma to be able to have some interior cargo space, dry and a bit secure. Does exactly what I wanted.

I have carried a couple of adults short distances (under 30 min) in special circumstances, and a couple of pre-teen grands longer distances (but not a 'trip') w/o too much complaint.

Several around here have removed the seats and made platforms for their dogs which look really nice.

Love the ac. No regrets and works great for me but kids or pets in it just me and the wife and half the time we take her fusion. Never liked the look of a 4 door cab on a small truck but have ridden in a few and the extra interior space is definitely nice. I would really take advantage of the opportunity to test drive them both before you fully commit. You may fall in love with the 4 door.

I would say yes, you will regret it just for the fact that the double cabs hold much better resale value. If your going to order and buy new, might as well do what you can to make sure you dont lose your butt when its time to trade in or sell it.

Coming from a 2018 tundra crewmax to a 2022 Tacoma double cab…I can’t imagine having anything smaller than the double cab. The back seat is already pretty tight….access cab would be crazy small to me. My back seat is pretty much solely for my 50lb pitty. She fits great. Nice to have those extra doors too for getting her in and out.
