My gut says the commentary was spot on. My COVID-19 related history looks like this:
    • COVID-19 infection #1: January 2020
      • This infection yielded fairly strong symptoms for the first several weeks with breathing causing intense pain in my chest (felt like the times I've had broken ribs)
      • Lesser symptoms through the end of April which included what seemed like a non-stop cold or sinus infection
      • Lesser symptoms through the end of November which included painfully swollen joints, most notably my knees which grew to the size of small cantaloupes
    • Pfizer jab #1: April 2021
    • Pfizer jab #2: May 2021
    • COVID-19 infection #2: September 2021
      • Mild symptoms for a day (I'd been helping my son move and been lifting and schlepping heavy furniture for the day so I didn't think anything was amiss)
      • Severe symptoms for about 4-hours on Day-2 which felt like I was being stabbed through my ribs every time I took a breath
      • By noon on Day-3 the symptoms were virtually gone and I went out for a 6-mile trail run
    • Pfizer booster #1: November 2021
    • COVID-19 infection #3: January 2022
      • Mildly painful breathing for less than 48 hours and then back to normal
    • Pfizer booster #2: March 2022

At this point it seems COVID-19 has moved on from being a pandemic to being endemic; basically this is something we get to live with for the rest of our lives.

A few thoughts on Covid since I’m experiencing it. I’ve read about it, researched it and talked to several doctors about it including 2 friends who are physicians (retired). Even though the most recent variants tend to be milder than prior forms thay can still be severe and cause hospitalization and death. This is especially so for people our age , over 60. Our age makes us high risk because as we get older our immune system and immune response in general diminishes, it doesn’t offer as robust a response as when we were younger. Add to that others risk factors such as obesity, diabetes, copd/lung disease, heart disease
and others and our immune system can become overwhelmed by the Covid virus.
There is no doubt that the vaccine and boosters help and are life savers but they are an individual decision whether to vaccinate or not that each must personally decide. The vaccine doesn’t work by killing the virus. What it does is it ramps up the immune system so when the virus is detected the immune response is overwhelming. In most cases the virus is shut down and viral replication is grossly reduced. The more virus and continued viral replication the more severe the disease

As soon as you test positive you should contact your physician to discuss treatment options. If you are short of breath or having trouble breathing you should go to ER. The sooner you receive treatment in general the more favorable your outcome. The most prescribed treatment currently is antiviral’s. For maximum benefit you need to start them within 5 days of the first symptoms. Antivirals are prescribed for 5 days, 2 doses a day. They work by stopping the viral replication. The lower the viral load the better the outcome.

No one knows how severe the virus is going to affect them. My wife and I have had “mild”symptoms but they’ve lasted 2 weeks. We’ve felt like crap for 2 weeks.
We are improving but still not back to normal. I took the antivirals with no side effects, but they made my wife sick and she couldn’t tolerate them. I know a person who had mild symptoms for a week and was over it and back to normal. I know a unvaccinated 66 year old who spent about 2 weeks in the hospital 2 months ago and is still not fully recovered. There is just no way to predict how the virus will affect you. I have a niece whose is 38 healthy and in great shape. She’s had Covid twice recovered in a week or less and it barely slowed her down. Vaccination, booster and antivirals definitely reduce the risk of severe disease.
The most important thing is as soon as you have symptoms contact your doctor to discuss your options.

Lastly my doctor said that the newest variants are so contagious that he expects almost everyone will get the virus whether they’ve had it previously or not. He also advised me to hold off on getting the second booster as the booster is not very effective on the newest variants. He says the hope is that by this fall they will develop a more effective booster that will protect you from the newer variants.
Mike, I wish you the best and hope you are one of the fortunate ones with mild symptoms and it’s done in a few days. Take care of yourself.

Jeez I’ll chime in. Worked front lines of covid for all t hi a time. Went to PA to be with my Dad. He was in home hospice passed away a peaceful death. I tested positive 2 days later mild symptoms. Missed the service but must be cautious for my 90 yr old mom. Life sorta sucks now.
Wife finished chemo 2 weeks ago and faces surgery on the 11 th. Isolated from everyone now on the mend. Sorry to ramble so much

My wife and I have been blessed Covid-wise. We’ve had our vac’s and boosters and been very careful and so far neither of us has been sick. My wife’s sister’s family not so much. Her 32 YO son is a long-haul case, caught the virus in February 2020 and still has respiratory problems, can’t taste certain things and now is recurring ear infections and memory problems. She and her husband had it months ago and still complain about not being able to taste stuff. 27 YO daughter has had it twice and now her youngest has it. I fear its just a matter of time until we get it and being smokers for the last 40 years it going to kick our butts.

Any idea what caliber their using and any info. on the optics their using? Also I’m assuming they are using a spotter. Can’t imagine doing that without a spotter.

Wild guess for the top picture would say 50 cal. Lower picture is definitely a smaller caliber. Anybody else have a guess?

Without a butt stock seems to me a 50 cal in that the barrel would end up in your face lol. Maybe a 221 Fireball? High velocity and less recoil?

I went into Cabela's last year to purchase a rifle set up for 1000 yard shots. Some little punk kid that wanted to make sure I knew he knew everything about firearms... and that I knew nothing... made it easy to leave with my money still in my pocket.

The 6.5 Creedmoor is a round with a lot of growing popularity, it seems... but they could be a 308 or just about anything with enough capability.
