I'm about to replace the front bearings in my 2017 TRD Sport (2WD) at 113K on the truck and since I'll be into it already - figured I'd take care of the stock shocks. Many years ago I put Bilstein 5100s on my 2007 PreRunner and leveled it out - but looking at the Bilstein website I'm a little confused with the options.

    Main question:
Will the B8 5100s work with the SPORT Springs or am I going to have to move to Offroad Springs?

Are the 4600s the same as the OEM Toyota TRD OR Shocks? (If so - would assume I could NOT use Sport Springs on those?). I'm not really looking to level the truck this time as we tow a camper and don't want the rear to sag if I level it.

Thx - just trying to figure out a better (Bilstein) shock setup than Hitachi, but use the same springs (or maybe see if I can score some take off OR springs).

Thanks for the info on the 4600s @MannyS ! Good stuff in that thread. So the 4600s are NOT the same as the TRD OR. Sounds like they are stiffer than the TRD OR shock, but not as stiff as the 5100 or the Hitachi (OEM Sport)

I have 4600 struts and shocks on my 2020 2WD Sport and they are perfect.

So leveling will always cause sag, you need the rear to be higher in anticipation of load. Only airbags can stop a level truck from sagging.

4600's will be stock front to back, they are better than TRD Offroad bilstiens, but only by a little.

5100's can level the truck, they handle load better, but tend to ride a lot more firm.

Both 100% work with any Tacoma spring.

If you want some support for your towing, look at air bags, timbren springs, sumo springs, or leaf springs.

    Work in progress...
113,000 miles, I would watch the buy sell trade for some Off Road take off springs with low miles. I've driven a couple of stock Off Roads and I love the feel and ride of the Off Road, stock, compared to the Sport, stock setup. The 5100's should be perfect with the Off Road springs. If I was going with 5100's, again, this is what I would do.
