Hey gang. So I’ve read through a bunch of threads and got some good info. Also talked to a couple tire places. I need new tires for inspection so taking the opportunity to upgrade to something a bit more aggressive looking.

    2017 Tacoma SR5 V6 4WD
Stock list and tires are 245/75/16
    - I don’t off road, but I tow a fairly heavy 14’ trailer in winter

At first the guy at the dealer mentioned he got Goodyear wrangler Territory 265/70/16 on one of his 3 tacos and like them. I put a set on order but then started researching more. I think I need a better tire for LOAD RATING and more than just 4ply. If I was just driving to work & back these would be good.

So my focus is now looking at
something that looks good and is efficient for my needs. I think the below two options are my choices without needing to add lift mods. I’m adding why I like them. If anyone out there with a Tacoma upgraded to either of these, I’d like to hear your input and if I’m missing anything else I should be looking at. If I can stay with not installing lifts or trimming would be ideal.

    •Wrangler DuraTrac
    LT265/75R16 123Q
    LIKES: Look, load/speed rating,
Durability. Concern: noise? More tire than I need when not towing?
    Rubbing?

    •BFG All Terrain T/A KO2 LT265/75R16 123R
    LIKES: Look, load/speed rating,
Durability, quieter ride? These seem to last longer for basic pavement driving I’m seeing on owner reviews.

    thoughts?
    Do’s / Don’ts I may not be thinking of.

    thanks

Where do you live? If you live where you have winter for 4-6 months, please run four dedicated winter tires!

If you are not going off road, look at the Michelin LTX AT tires. The two tires above are really good for off roading and will be louder and have lower mpgs than the LTX AT.

I agree with 265-75-16 though your effective gearing is going to be taller than your stock size.

thanks, I will check out the Michelins.
I’m in eastern PA. (State of 5 seasons in 5 days) We get snow, but it’s gone in a day and I’m not necessarily out driving in it unless I need to. My truck handles pretty well in what we get, I usually have a 2’ railroad tie I put in the bed for weight in winter that helps with rear slipping if I’m out.
