BB007BE1-CE92-409F-ABFC-8CD743475D5A.jpg I recently replaced my brake booster w/ what I thought was correct. From that day it has given me fits, apparently it’s defective OR it’s a booster for a Tacoma. Apparently there is a difference. Anyway, I want to order another. Rock Auto lists Tacoma and RWD as different parts. Considering mine technically was a RWD should I go with that? What the Christ could be the difference in the first place ? It’s the same w/ the master cylinders. Thanks in advance

A '99 is a Tacoma. Your subject says PreRunner 4x4. There's no such thing because the PreRunner is 2WD. It seems as though something is different between the 4x4 and the PreRunner. If you have a PreRunner I'd buy the RWD version.

Does the RWD mean the 5 lug Tacoma?

Just what kind of problems are you suffering with?

Was the booster you bought new or rebuilt?

I don’t know if RWD means five lug or PreRunner, trust me there is something wrong w/ it, it sticks, sometimes jams, makes a clunk noise. It’s not the master, it’s not the breaks, it’s this crappy, new, Cardone I bought from Rock Auto 6 months ago. Rock Auto doesn’t have a drop down for PreRunner under models so I always enter Tacoma. On some websites, Ebay for example, most boosters for sale say “*excludes PreRunner” mine is technically a PreRunner. I was hoping someone had run into this. Thanks buddy

My PreRunner had gender correction surgery. I can show my knuckle scars from turning the hubs in February

For example (many to most say the same) regarding excluding PreRunner. Thanks again

    I go with a bad booster !!

Over the years I have swapped so many Toyota Boosters .

    I have one from a 86 pick up on my 92 4Runner.

As long as you take the time to make sure the rod to the master cylinder is adjusted correct I have never had problems.

As long as it has no problems.

    Good luck!

RWD refers to the 5lug Tacomas.

4x4 and Prerunners share the same frame and parts with the exception of the 4wd components of course.

Actually... the 2.7l was only offered on the Prerunners and 4x4s, so it might be that RWD is referring to your truck since you selected 2.7l.

    The 5lugs got the 2.4l 4cyl, not the 2.7

I have a PreRunner 4x4. I converted it five years ago, just had to bolt on all the missing 4x4 components.

How is the booster giving you fits? I find 9 times out of 10 people replace boosters unnecessarily when chasing brake problems.
