Chrysler is dead last. But yet dodge is in 2nd place?
Guess Dodge slipped JD a couple more $$ than Chrysler did.

Guess Toyota didn't pay JD Power enough again. Buick, Dodge, and Chevy are the top 3. That should tell you something right there.

EVs are the worse no suprise there. They are more complex and rely on more input from the computer system than the driver. Hybrids and PEHV didn't fare well either. Tesla wasn't included in the survey.

The biggest complaint was for the infotainment system, and customers not being able to pair their phone. I know you want everything to work in your new vehicle, but those system are not the best tech on the market.

Ford didn't do very well overall, but the Ranger was the top rated midsize. For initial quality in the 1st 90 days of ownership.

Toyota could care less about the first 90 days. I bet it is not even a metric within the company. They are in it for the long game. They know that is the reason they sell as many cars as they do and get the repeat buyers. Lets compare manufacturers quality at 100K. Now, I also BET that the domestic 3 have 90 day metrics right up front and center - because that is what moves cars. People doing 'research' and making buying decisions on JD Powers...haha.

I'd say the 90 day metric is mostly irrelevant. Still wouldn't mind seeing that 90 day endurance test between an ice Jeep Gladiator and Rivian R1T. Or any ice to BEV truck 90 day endurance test.

The fact that all vehicles from all manufacturers are down in ratings Is significant, but expected with supply chain delays, and parts shortages. Assembly lines are stopped and restarted more frequently. Which can't be a benefit to any product built on a line.

Products are only as good as yhe line, or process they are built on.

High prices, and delays probably give consumer greater expectations. Even pre supply disruption era vehicle might not be up to the consumer's expectations when waiting to pay more for the same vehicle.

Toyota Tacoma for example, those are always in QC hold before being delivered. Are there quality issues that Toyota is adressing, before the trucks make it to the dealer? If you have to wait six months for a truck and pay a 5k markup. Any little imperfection is going to be amplified to the buyer.

Cold the newer plant be producing a marginally inferior truck, which could be a direct result of parts shortages and less up time on the line. No fault of management or workers, to iron out any new assembly line speed bumps.

90 days is 90 days, and thats still more gremlins than other manufactures to inconvenience a new owner back to the dealership for warranty work. Whatever JD power claims in its ratings, the bottom line its still not good to see any manufacture take a quality hit.

Depends on what the consumer complaint is. If it's a true defect that's one thing. If it's something the consumer reported that ended up being user error (like not being able to pair a phone or use the infotainment system correctly), that shouldn't count. Does anyone know if the there is any root cause analysis to determine if it's in fact a quality issue, or do they just count reports for any reason?

Every forum accuses manufacturers of bribes when their make isn't number 1 haha

Manufacturers buy this data to try and improve their quality. You can bet that Toyota isn't happy their 90 day quality isn't at the top. Reason Dodge is so high up is their infotainment is actually some of the best in the industry. Why is Chrysler last? My guess is they only have like 2 models and one of them is the PHEV van which could be the reason for so many complaints.

Finally reason there aren't 10 year studies is because you can't guarantee proper/consistent maintenance for so long to make a fair comparison.

I guess the market is going to decide what the selling and purchasing prices are going to be.

The market price can also be inflated.

What do you do if you don't agree with the market price, and the seller isn't going to lower their price, because of the market?

You don't buy what ever it is, let someone else pay the market price.

I always look at the market price as being inflated.

on what basis? EV are significantly less mechanically complex and maintenance prone than ICE. i am not talking about hybrids, full EV are not more complex than an ICE car in any mechanical aspect.

We had a brand new 2009 Cobalt and 2011 Equinox (Both meticulously maintained and cared for) and both shit the bed at 100,000kms (62,000 miles). Will never buy a new GM in my life.
