Normal for there to be a gap?

I noticed this 1/8 inch gap on the rubber strip that run the entire length of the roof (from windshield to the rear window) when I was cleaning my 2022 Tacoma the other day. The rubber strip on the far side looks identical. Is that gap normal on a 2022 Tacoma? I'm concern with water and/or snow getting into the gap and potentially causing rust in the long term. Thought I would ask other owners if this is normal or not.IMG-5767.jpg IMG-5768.jpg

I’ve seen a thread or two regarding this, and from what I have gathered, yes it is normal.
(The gap may shrink or get bigger depending on time of year and temperature). Those are what conclusions people made.

My truck also has that gap. Water has never intruded into the cabin space or headliner. The factory roof rack holes have glue and tape sealing them.
Do not be worried by the marginal gap.

You can pop those off and it'll make little difference to anything. As mentioned above, the factory roof rack holes are sealed. So no worries about rust, or water intrusion

Yeah, it's basically a trim piece if there is no roof rack installed.

Yours looks just like mine...I assume its normal, but I think its a stinky design.

If you look closely, the gap sits above a piece that routes water down the back channel.
