I'm heading from Conway NH to Schoodic Point ME next weekend. Any suggestions on some fun roads to hit. 2 very capable trucks so not super worried about the terrain from what I have seen in Maine from doing some work there it's super sandy and not very rocky

How much of a detour do you want? You could do from the ME/NH border on logging roads to Millinockett then drop down through Bangor or north of Bangor then back track a bit to MDI.

That's probably a little far north. Looking at maps I'm trying to figure out what "unimproved roads" really mean. Is it just dirt road is it equal to Class 4 in VT or Class 6 in NH.

Maine doesn't have decommissioned roads like NH and VT. Sometimes a dirt road is a town road that is graded regularly and sometimes a dirt road is a snowmobile which is closed to traffic the rest of the year.
