    so last year for the 4th i set off without a set destination, just a general area. figured there's half a dozen campgrounds along a 20 mile stretch of road. river nearby, lots of shade. 100* temps. plan was to just keep driving until i found something
    pulled off at the first camp and immediately pulled out. they cut down all the trees and there was zero shade. kept going, next camp was full. kept going and pulled into the third camp and was surprised to find that some of the sites had electrical hookups AND were first come, first served. and one was available. so I took it. And I survived the 100* weather with the AC in the camper.
    met some nice folks - retired couple from MT. we kinda just visited off and on as our paths crossed in camp over the weekend.
    so i enjoyed my stay and the AC so much last year i though i'd head back again this year and just hoped that i could score another site with electrical hookups. weather was predicted to be in the 90's all weekend.
    so i pull in and drive around, back into an available site, get set up and plugged in. and i look across the road and realize that i recognize the camper in the site across from me. same folks that i met last year and this year we're going to be neighbors! so the lady sees me and pops her head out of the camper. they come over like i'm their long lost daughter or something, give me hugs. we kept chatting all weekend and it was rainy for a couple nights but last night was finally clear, i invited them over for campfire time and we had a good chat for a couple hours.
    leaving this morning i was packed and ready. went over to say goodbye to them. asked them "same time next year?" turns out they go to the same camp for the 4th every year. so now i feel like i have to go there next year too or they'll be disappointed. :laugh:
    random stuff like that is why i don't mind campgrounds - get to meet cool people from time to time and it's not always obnoxious jerks.
