Been wanting a SP5 to SBR for years, and waited till their outrageous.

Looking for a deal on one now.

Never shot one nor seen one in person.

    Any of y'all have one?

Are they really that damn nice? Is there a chance of disappointment it I buy a new one on GB?

I have an SP5K and yes they really are all that and a bag of chips. Everything from the paddle slap to the smooth recoil impulse. They really are excellent shooters, not to mention they're just fuckin' cool, but I'm also heavily biased and love MP5s and wanted one since I was a kid. That being said, it is a dated design and its trigger isn't the greatest. There's a good amount of aftermarket support, but parts and magazines are $$$. It's also gonna cost me a ton to get converted to a proper MP5K.

If you didn't want to pay H&K prices but wanted to get into the roller lock game there's always manufacturers like Zenith, POF, PTR, etc that make some really decent clones. Another option to consider is B&T, who are making pretty much the best subguns on the market right now, and make tons of high end parts for H&K. Granted it wouldn't be an MP5 and you won't get to do the cool paddle slap, but you do get a modern roller lock system with all the amenities like ambi controls, Geissele triggers, rail/mounting options, etc. The GHM9 is an excellent gun for a really reasonable price. The APC9 is their flagship and has a slightly upgraded bolt system, but also costs more equivalent to an SP5.

    Just something to consider.

There will be no Zenith, POF, or PTR's in my safe!

If I can't have a real MP5, I at least want a real HK SP5. I like the classic looks of the SP5 over the SP5K. I'm watching a few on GB right now. Ain't fucking cheap at all. Probably buy one before I go to bed.

I'd fill out a eForm 1 to SBR it the day I pick it up from my FFL. LOL...just bought a HK A2 stock for it and don't even own one yet.

    Thank you!

As far as paddle slap I get that with my SBR CZ S2 Scorpion.

Sounds like you've already got a good plan and just needed convincing then. Well you won't be disappointed, that's for sure. The pain of spending is temporary, but the joys of owning are forever :p

Now the wait to get it, and then the wait time to get my stamp to SBR it. Hope the ATF is as fast as they were in 2020 when I got 3 stamps. One in 23 days and the other 2 in 17 days.

After having my SP5 for a couple months, I felt the need for an addition.

Should arrive by this Saturday or maybe Monday depending on shipping.

I'll short barrel this one with a B&T folding stock.
