Definitely not cool. When I have had multiple calls on a vehicle, I have let them come in order. I have had people say they can get there first or will bid it up. No thanks, I wouldn’t like that done to me, so I won’t do it to someone else.

Some good advice here. I did have some people text with lowball offers. I would just respond, “Sorry, were too far apart”. A few disappeared. The guy who bought it came back high enough to talk.

I like the idea of the hold harmless and indemnify. I would have to look at an example of the indemnity clause or run it by an attorney. I know the syntax can be a bit tricky so you don’t end up with your zipper down rather than protecting yourself.

That's why you cut and paste off of another contract that has been vetted by an attorney already.

THIS drives me crazy. I post a lot of free stuff on my neighborhood's FB page because I just can't bring myself to throw something out that has nothing wrong with it.

FREE STUFF...and people have the nerve to ask for free delivery?

People have no shame these days.

Exactly. There is far too much assumption of entitlement and not enough appreciation. People are often quick to complain and slow to be thankful. Not a great shift in culture.

That is what the practice of law is all about. Find something someone smarter than you did, copy and use it yourself.

If I get someone interested in seeing it and another inquiry comes I do mention "full disclosure I've had other interest as well". As for appointments, first come first served because I've had too many say they will arrive and don't. Saw my parents wait on someone and cost themselves a sale before.

Bidding up though I agree, I won't do that.

When I list a larger item for sale I sometimes add "delivery a short distance COULD be negotiated" if I feel like it. But if that happens I better be getting a quick sale elsewise.

Oh yeah, for sure. If I'm selling something and stand to make some money doing so, I'm always willing to deliver within reason. If I'm giving something away for free though, and someone asks me to deliver it to them, they can pound sand.

A back step for when I get older, Carhartt seatcovers, 4Runner wheels, Topper, and "tats all folks"! --for now!!
For the most part, I have good to great experiences selling my cars to individuals. I have never traded in. Once I had a Asian descent person pay me in full the deposit to hold the car t for him to buy it. Called me the next day to back out -- I gave him all but $100 back of the 1000 deposit -- He was very happy. Selling same car same car now- week later -a 1990 Acura integra that my neighbor was test -trying out with her son. They came back and said they almost got up to the max speedometer reading of 160MPH. I liked to shit -- Thank heavens they bought the car.
The stupid teenager proceeded to destroy that car in the next couple of years --sadly they lived a few doors down the street, and we had to see the car's decline. Really sad as that little rocket was pristine driven by my wife most of the time. Her ex- husband still lives down in the same house. He is an even bigger idiot than she was/is.

Unless said delivery is getting me a little cash. I'd be ashamed to just assume free and free.

I've only sold one truck, my previous ('06) Tacoma, and had the whole range of experiences. A ton of people who ask if it is still available and waste my time, ridiculous low ballers, people who didn't read the ad, etc. The one that got me was the people who replied to my FB marketplace ad. Unfortunately Facebook pulled the "purchased at" mileage that I put in the ad, about 100k less than what was on the odometer, and put that on the preview info as you scroll through.

Unfortunately it can't be edited after posting (who knows why) and even though I put a huge disclaimer at the top of the ad that noted the actual mileage, I got ~dozen message threads that went a few messages in before most people said "whoops, didn't notice the actual mileage" ... some people.
