but I will 1000% go through a class before I decided to wear and carry. I’m sure I’ve lost a lot of skills and gun discipline I need to brush up on.

 

So wait a minute, after a quick Google search, does this mean that anyone in MD applying for a CCW permit has to explain why they’re applying with a “good and substantial reason” for it?

Because it’s my constitutional right and that’s all anybody needs to know, case closed, NEXT!

 

Not anymore we don’t. Until today we needed a good and substantial reason…,and that was not defined and self defense was not good enough… the decisions were made case by case.

That’s grossly wrong in my opinion and even more ridiculous on behalf of the lawmakers who enact such laws. My “good and substantial reason” is the simple fact that I have a constitutional right as a law abiding, non felon citizen to own and carry one. Furthermore, I’ve demonstrated proficiency in a civilian capacity to carry a concealed firearm as well as in a law enforcement capacity, where I operate different weapon systems and have qualified with them through my agency. What more does the government want from us? Our left nut, too?! And a self addressed, stamped envelope for them to send us our permit to?

Exactly, our safety wasn't good and substantial enough. I never thought we'd see this day. I'm prior service also but I'm taking the class just to be as thorough as possible so I don't run into any problems.

I agree with that! Good luck getting into a class soon.
Now is probably a good time to get the Permit that covers a punch of states so you can carry around too… I can’t remember which class/state it was but if I see it I’ll let you know.

Honestly, I feel less safe knowing that everybody and their brother can just carry a gun.

I've never needed a gun to feel safe and can't come up with a situation that I've been in that having a gun would have made it better.
