Hey, new member from NC. Been a Nissan guy most my life, know nothing about Tacos! Looking at a 06 Double cab, TRD sport, 4x4, V6, 1 owner, 97k, the truck appears to be in excellent cosmetic shape. So, is this a good truck, what are the look outs, what will I have to do to it first. Going to be my DD. Going price? Thanks y'all hopefully I'll get to give back soon...Tony

I read online the years of Tacomas to avoid were 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2016...Good Grief who really knows...

 

I think maintenance is the key I baby mine, I like this truck better than the wife just kidding

Whats the matter with half of the 2nd gen years? Was toyota taking notes from chrysler for those years?

@OP, In 2005 there was a head gasket issue on the 4.0L but was quickly fixed. 2012 was the first year of the SAIS and they had issues with that but again seemed to be fixed quickly

 

There all good if you take care of them

 

Look for frame rust, worst spots are usually in the C Channels next to the catalytic converters. Make sure you look on the inside too. If you do buy you could change all fluids and spark plugs for peace of mind and a good start.

AJKLug, I did say " internet" info so I suppose I'll take it with a grain of salt! I am surprised of the frame rust issue, would have never knew to look...

 

The frame issue is perhaps the biggest issues tacomas ever had. There was a recall for an inspection by the dealer to see if your frame qualified to be replaced due to holes rotting through. Every other issue is childs play compared to the frame issues
