Drivers side is non-OEM varies, it seems. I don't think any of prefab kits come like that standard. Some might offer it as an option.

Toyota dealers used to install the Pop N Lock version before Toyota made their own.

Drivers side is OEM location as can be seen from Toyotas install PDF.
    http://toyotaparts.sparkstoyota.com/install/00016-34351-taco21.pdf

This version is updated from the one I used in 17, so haven’t checked the connector pins are the same, but looks like it’s picking up the drivers door. The version people post on TW is passenger side and NOT the OEM location. (But is better IMO)

    Intersting. Thanks for the correction.

That is a very different kit than I have seen, including the actuator.

This is the one that I am familiar with:

I totally get where yo are coming from here. When I got mine, I knew I didn't want my tailgate constantly being locked and unlocked, as I rarely need to go into my bed and/or unlock my tailgate. I certainly didn't need it to unlock every dang time I got into the truck! That being said, as others have mentioned, it is an easy thing to wire it to the passenger side so it only unlocks when all 4 doors are unlocked. But still even that was too much for me, as the tailgate still didn't need to be unlocked everytime I unlocked all 4 doors, which is rare. SO, I researched, and found that PopNLock actually makes a ROCKER SWITCH, that you can mount anywhere you want, so that the tailgate ONLY unlocks/locks when you use the ROCKER SWITCH, and not the door locks. That was perfect for me, so I installed the switch and routed the wires from the tailgate lock directly to the switch. It works great and ONLY when I want to lock/unlock the tailgate. Here is a link to how I did it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qeKhgnc3UI

interesting. I’d only seen 2 versions before, but you posted a 3rd.
So 2017 was drivers side, 2019 passenger side, and 2021 back to drivers side.
Here is the complete one you posted.

oh wow, so the one I have is the actual OEM, huh.

I guess it’s the version they use with the key fob on the sr5 trim. There is a “Conflicts” saying it doesn’t work with keyless entry on those instructions

Yeah. I have the full version, but others might like it.

It is funny that they have take three different approaches to an easy thing. As I recall, there are now three different variations on the actuator. I think they initially had a bracket like the PnL version, then that very different one that you have, and this simple one in those instructions.

Pretty crazy for what used to be a $10 mod.

Them instructions are for a Sparks Toyota aftermarket pop-n-lock type, not the OEM version at all.

It used to be pop and lock but it is not anymore. Weirdly enough the pop and lock version does go to the driver side so it always unlocks/locks with driver door.

I have access into my truck settings both through the stock radio settings and more settings through Carista. I am not able to do much with the door locks besides making them all unlock together, or driver one click.

I have a feeling the OP got a dealer installed aftermarket one. Either that or the P’n’L that Toyota used to rebrand as new old stock.
I bought the OEM that Toyota actually makes. Not the pop n lock that Toyota used to use. Its harness plugs into the passenger side. Last I looked Toyota advertises it as 2019-2022, however it fits all years fine.

    PK3B6-35SJ0

and contrary to this entire post, just the other day I disabled two stage unlocking because it drove me nuts. I’d rather one click to lock and unlock all doors/tailgate.

They are, just that dealers have "accessories" that they label OEM.

For an unlock of only front doors (at first press) an intercept harness can be assembled and installed to have the Passenger's Door parallel the Driver's Door.

The kit in the link is from Totota southeast region distributor. Toyota southeast is an independent distributor and basically, put whatever they want on the truck at "port".

The part number "00016-34351" is different than the Toyota OEM "PK3B635JS0". Southeast offers options not available in other regions like Bakflip covers and back seat USB charging. They buy after-market items and package them as Southeast parts and put them on trucks. They also have crazy markup. When I bought my truck, the "sticker" price on the all-weather floor mats was $300 and the USB charging cable package was $110. I asked them to remove all port-added options.

Sparks is in the Toyota southeast region. Southeast buys some aftermarket stuff and packages it as "Toyota" and offers it as "port" added options.
