Got mine today and was only able to take it into a short test drive around the neighborhood but it sounds good.

Probably won't be able to replicate the V8 like burble that the KN63 produces at low rpm but it does sound more sporty than the HPS intake tube without being overly annoying/drony at higher rpms/WOT like the KN63 so that's an improvement in my book.

We will see if anything changes tomorrow on my work route.

The 5.7 doesn't need an intake to sound great:p
but the TRD pro exhaust wouldn't hurt. Unfortunately cruising around is closest thing to a V8 burble we gonna get on a Taco with an aftermarket intake, low throttle or WOT just sounds like shit on most of these.

The only thing I know is that if the Next Gen tundra doesn't look good enough I will continue with my hunt of the unicorn TRD pro double cab Lunar Rock or just build up a cement base or TRD SR5 for about $5-10 grand less. :D

I have one and noticed a difference in throttle response. The "snake oil" guys have just never tried one. You're not going to make any real power with an intake on a N/A car but there are more benefits than just power.

I already had a K&N filter , but just installed the plastic tube . (gotta spare filter now too !) I used to desert race with one of the inventers of the filters . been running them in everything I own for decades now . Only issue with them is when folks over oil them or use compressed air to dry them ! Seat of the pants dyno results at 9k feet , Better throttle response , a noticeable midrange improvement and even with winter fuel at freezing temps I'm up about 1.5 mpg ... It'll take awhile but it will pay for itself in time ...

Sorry to dig up older thread, but wanted to get some info out there for people searching for this kit.

I was able to order just the intake tube and barbed fitting direct from K&N. You can source all of the other items online (rubber/silicone hoses & clamps) for cheap. Hose sizes are 3.25"ID x 2" and 3.25"ID x 3", with 4 hose clamps that will fit those sizes. Just Google and you can find places to buy those parts for less than $20.00 total. I already had an aFe Power Magnum filter installed in stock air box, so I didn't need the extra K&N filter and parts. You can run any filter in the air box you want, even stock type.

The link below is the parts list/install instructions for 57-9039. Anyone can call the customer service phone number at 1-800-858-3333 and select the purchase parts option. The only parts needed from them is the INTAKE TUBE- 1087310A and VENT; STRT, 5/8 BARBED- 4108911-2. The Intake tube is $38.99, and the barbed fitting is $4.29. Free shipping and the total after tax shipped was $46.42 instead of the $199.99 they want for the whole 57-9039 set everywhere else. So for around $65.00 total you can have a great air intake system if desired.

    This

It's funny how the second someone reads K&N they immediately loose their mind.

HEADLINE READERS ONLY ALERT: This has Zero to do with the filter, this is ONLY about deleting the restrictive resonator box hanging off the stock tube. The filter is just an accessory to the tube. The tube is all that's needed.

You're proving my point by acting like this thread is all about the point you're making.

Just got my intake in - going to couple this with the TRD air flow accelerator mouth.

Anybody know why K&N chose to block off the crank case breather hose? I want to install it but it seems odd - maybe I got a defective intake tube?

Instructions don’t really make a reference:
