Figured I’d drop a thread on my new to me toy. 2000 Z28 LS1 Camaro. Bought it in Nov 2021 site unseen. My lady checked it over. She liked it enough and had it delivered. It’s a very clean T-Top example. Still deciding what directions I want to take it.

Congratulations! Looks like a fun project

When you say “all fluids”, you’re including a brake system flush?

If your thinking tranny cooler, what about a rear diff cooler?

I’d get the Owners Manual to see what that says. Do every maintenance item to start fresh with all.
    Have fun out there.

That’s funny. I had this in my post but took it out thinking the LS had an automatic

Yep all fluids brake fluid included. Is an auto, was wishing other at first but overall glad it’s not. Being a T-Top car I want to only beef it up modestly and not mess with reliability much. Plans are sure to change. Still very on the fence about the stahl upgrade or not.

 On the brake fluid flush! Using a performance replacement?

    Re: Stahl upgrade:
Is it a good bang for the performance buck?
Does the rest of the drivetrain need to be beefed up if it goes in?

    Subbed btw

I don't see many of these cars anymore. I have a soft spot for 4th gen catfishes and fire chickens. Especially the very limited GMMG wide body Dick Harrell, Dale Earnhardt and ZL1 versions.

    Some of my favs:

    https://maggperformance.com
    https://www.hawksmotorsports.com

Rock auto and hawks motorsports are good for hard to find and discontinued parts.

I just installed stop tech rotors and pads with stainless lines over the winter. Not as good as hawk hps pads, but the stop tech's were on closeout through tire rack and I couldn't pass up the deal. This ones an 02, 6spd, non traction control, hardtop, with SLP Blackwing air lid, SLP dual dual exhaust, SLP chrome 10 spoke wheels, leather, and hurst shifter. It's more or less stock aside from the brakes and clutch. Heads and cam are bound to happen someday. :burnrubber:

Don't forget fresh plugs and wires. The drivers side spark plugs on the back of the motor are sometimes easier to reach from underneath the car.

The Stahl upgrade from my talking / research makes the car that much more fun to drive and works in the motors power band which is higher for the LS1. Other power mods are good just not as great in terms of bang for the buck. Still looking into doing it though. Other mods perf wise are iffy. Car is never going to be a ground and pound with current cars. Plus t-tops so I want it reliable to drive. It’s not my Taco lol

nice, need to see some photos of yours. Hate the name firechickens. Great cars and even harder to find. Would love either, ran across the Z and couldn’t pass up lol. That’s a lot of links to check, thanks. SLP is kinda on my radar as well.

I'll have to take some better ones. SLP build #260 (260th car to be built in 2002) 1 of 263 SOM's built in 2002, but it's just a Camaro at the end of the day.

Sweet… I had an 04 C5 which I loved. Mine was 6 speed but always wondered how fun it would be to just cruise in an automatic with all the power.

Very nice, love that color. SLP part is unique, I wouldn’t down play it. Do we mod them? Of course but that’s how we show our own special sauce of what we like.

these are corvette reproduction wheels I’m leaning towards currently. New wheels probably won’t happen until next year but it’s fun to look.

OE wheels makes nice sets for the price, but I think that style looks better on the firebirds and trans ams imo.

BTW, yours looks lowered. What's the suspension setup? Also, add a fuel filter to your list. They're still serviceable on these cars.
