Don't worry, this guy has been pretty abusive since he joined. I haven't read a single productive comment from him.

    Like, so many.
Most folks (myself included) don’t want to get into the weeds of a 4 inch lift.

Hell, I'll bite on this hook. I looked into 4" lifts and they just aren't smart for a 4WD truck. You have to do a lot of frame cutting and don't gain anything other than being more top heavy. You can't fit any larger tires and won't be able to find any over the counter skid plates that will protect your front diff that will be even more exposed. So better to stick with a 3" coil-over lift, ECGS bushing and diff drop that will fit under most aftermarket skid plates. Still looks very aggressive, is practical and will still keep your front suspension geometry fairly safe.

As soon as you go over 2.75/3.0 you start to get down that rabbit hole. Stick with 2.5-2.75 and it's pretty simple.

Either go all out with a 6" (good luck) or stay on the sidelines.

You're on the wrong forum for learning. This forum is only for repeating consensus opinions with no explanation.

Plenty of people have used them on earlier gen Toyotas. There is more reward clearancing to put on bigger tires than modifying front suspension to fit bigger tires. You can fit 37 inches tires with clearancing and cmc. At the point you need to toughen other stuff (steering etc).

Drop brackets also increase center of gravity which isn't good. So it's just not worth it in comparison to clearancing.

If it's for looks it's all up to you.

Sometimes I can't stay quiet. So much BAD info on drop bracket lifts. 10% of what is spewed about them is correct, the rest is ignorance. I have run DB lifts on 3 Tacomas (01, 06 and my current 17). The key is "quality" parts and a "quality" install. Hell, my 06 had 37s. The only thing replaced in 4 yrs was a wheel bearing. There are are folks who offroad with these lifts. I find DB lifts better than maxing a set of coil overs for lift and feel like driving a dump truck. That after you blow out a set or 2 of CV axels (I know from experience). 6in lift on my 2017 and all is perfect! Research what is good for you and what you want out of it.
