    Hello everyone. I bought my used 2016 taco back in feb. and love MY taco.

    I have already installed the TRD pro Grille. Added some lights and other cosmetic things to make it my own.

    I do have a question/ issue. The tailgate lock is unable to receive the key. I have tried the graphite... no use :..( . I am planning on buying a replacement cylinder but I have not come across any tutorials of how to replace the cylinder. Any recomendations?

    I would suggest buy the cylinder and bring it with your key to a locksmith, they can repin the lock to work with your key.

    Possible damage from theft. I bought it with this issue so I don't know what actually caused it...

    I know how to rekey locks myself. Your suggestion just made me rethink having to buy a new cylinder. TY!

    Which key are you using? The 2016 fob key doesn't work with the tailgate. There should be another big key, in the glove box or console perhaps. If you already knew this, sorry of the insult.

    You’re right but I didn’t know that, when did they change to the door/ignition key fitting the tailgate lock, 2017?
    my 2019 key fits ignition and tailgate.

    The fob key works for the glove box. I didn't receive a different key when I purchased the truck.

    Did you check the console? And underside of console lid-some folks store their key in the pen holer on the bottom of the lid. If bought from dealer, did you receive an envelope for the paperwork? Might be in there.

    For what I'm sure you paid, I'd go back to the dealer and ask them to complete the key set.

    Doesn't matter that the PO didn't turn in the key, it matters that they sell the vehicle with all working parts. ;)
