So I recently built a roof rack for my shell on my Tacoma and I’ll post the link for it here.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/diy-shell-roof-rails.742397/

When I bought the rack I got some ditch lights and a small light bar with it and I’ve been racking my brain on where to mount them. I wanted to do something different with them so I decided to mount them on the underside of the rack as side lights for illuminating everything around the truck. I thought this might be useful for late nights cleaning up at the range or maybe setting up camp late at night idk.

the first issue I came across is my awning on the driver side hangs kinda low so I needed a bracket that would come up behind it and allow for under mounting without rubbing on the shell, cab or awning. Now whatever I come up with will also help with allowing my upcoming road shower I intend to build on the passenger side.

I had a proud moment when I was frustrated in the garage and was looking for scrap metal to make a bracket out of when I saw some old framing straps. At first I was doubtful but I found that this small piece of unused strap would work perfectly for what I wanted.

I wanted to post this to see if someone else had some insight to a possible future issue that I might have missed. So here’s what I came up with.

I will post pictures of them mounted hopefully tomorrow.

So I ended up mounting both lights on the same side for the test fit but here’s what it looked like all tightened up.
