    few things here and there.
    Hey y’all.

so, I posted a video a few days ago about some clunking sounds in my front end. Shop says nothing is “bad enough” to identify. Well, one of y’all pointed out my intermittent steering shaft may be to blame. Which got me to thinking… if it’s the entire rack, what are some symptoms some of y’all have experienced that were signs yours was failing?

    here’s what I’ve got..

    - Clunking when turning left or right sometimes, sounds like it comes from the middle of the front end. No clunking sound in the cab.

    - Some vibration above 65 and slight steering vibration when braking.

tires are balanced, new. Taking it back to the shop next week, as I have to get a trans cooler line replaced, and I’m going to have them check the intermittent steering shaft.

just curious if any of y’all had any insight, or after watching my video.. maybe have any ideas? Had the Mrs record it for me in the cab, haven’t really fiddled with it much since.

the knock when turning doesn’t happen every time, it’s intermittent. I notice it every morning after sitting though. Anyway… y’all have always been insightful, so I thought I’d post this last effort. Before… dropping 1500+ on a new rack. The wife says if I’m gonna buy a new rack… it better be for her. .

Have them check your lower control arm bushings and make sure the cams bolts are tight as well as your lower shock bushing. you have a spacer on there and that puts a lot of stress on the lower shock bushing. Should be a very easy diagnosis to make in person

Update: Clunk turned out to be my sway bar linkage, apparently they were toast. Replaced them and have no has the clunk since.

I fear mine is done or almost done
There is black leak fluid in the boots and looseness in the front I’m trying to track down. Once I replace all the other parts I have left to replace it will leave not much left to blame if it persists, such as the rack. Which on most cars by now has already failed.

    delete the sway bar

Nope, but recently saw fluid on the boots for the first time... 44k 2010, have never had to add fluid so we're running with it:thumbsup:
