You can spray paint the posts or get the felt pads and corrosion will be pretty much non existent.

Actually you don't want to paint the posts. Its the battery terminals that you can spray battery goop on once hooked up. The felt post pads are good to use.

Guy at the battery store told me to paint the posts. I didn't but he runs the place.

The corrosion on that terminal is pretty minor. It shouldn't of had an affect on the starting. There are several ways to prevent it. The felt washers as mentioned previously. Special terminal paint. I have been using WD40. My wife's car sits alot... so the terminals corrode a bit more. A small squirt of WD40 has kept them clean.

Felt pads and a light coating of dielectric grease is how I have always done it. Works great.

I too have been using WD-40 for many years, a small spritz every oil change keeps them corrosion free.
I like DEKA batteries too, made in Pennsylvania.

I have always used Interstate batteries but I’ve switch over to using Toyota batteries, I’ve been getting at least 5 years out of them

I'm on my 4th year in a hot climate w/ the stock batt. Next Summer will be year 5, and will probably replace the batt on speculation.

Wally world batteries use to be good here, but i've had nothing but bad luck with them in my tractor, and the marine deep cycle ones for the boat. I'm done with them. I stuck an el-cheapo econocraft autozone battery in the tractor months ago. So far its outlasted the last 2 wally world batteries. Found the company that makes these batteries have very good reputation, but are not known for manufacturing automotive lead acid batteries, but well known for lithium/ion ones in the electronic field, plus making those battery chargers. For the cost i can't say enough good for this battery.
