Does this look normal? CV axle/differential gap.

    Took a picture of my driver's side CV axle, where it meets the differential. I was eyeballing things under there today. Is this gap normal, or is it excessive? I am getting ready to separate it soon to replace the needle bearing with the ECGS bushing, when I do my lift.

    I was just curious if anyone else see's the same gap. I would think that it would be flush against the side of the differential?

    There is a fair amount of play in there. You will see when you try to pull the axle out.

    Not sure about you question, but the amount of play on the axle between the stock bearing and EGGS bearing is significant, in my opinion and my mechanics also.

    It isn’t and that is why the ECGS bushing.

    Just did the ECGS bushing on mine and the gap/play seemed significant on mine too… although, I suppose if it isn’t leaking @JoeCOVA ill Just leave it be until something blows up :rofl:

    I'm fairly certain that's as tight as she gets. As Joe said, if it ain't leaking, you're golden.

    For peace of mind, you could always go to the dealer and peak underneath a new truck.

    Just replaced the ECGS bushing/diff seal. I used the ECGS tools for bushing and seal install to ensure both were set to correct depth. Install went great and it’s driving well with no leaks.
    I didn’t pay attention before removing cv axle, but now noticed the metal ring is not seated fully against the diff. I hit from all sides using pry bar and 3 lb. hammer while rotating the cv. It seems to be as far as it wants to seat. I hand tested to confirm it will not pull out of Diff, so assuming the C clip is in and holding tight. See photos to compare passenger vs drivers ring. Drivers is @ 1/16” difference. Any feedback to offer or does this look normal? I’ve read conflicting reports.
