Hi I put an LED lighting in the hood scoop of my 2021 Tacoma Sport 4 door. The yellow wire pictured is perfect for me to tap into without cutting it, so that the light will be on constant when the truck is running. It powers hot when in accessory mode and stays powered with ignition on and truck is running. Just don't want to mess with it if it would cause a problem as I don't know what accessory it goes to. The lights are three small LED's for accent only and not the super bright lights that blind oncoming drivers. The wire is the one highlighted under the screwdriver blade. Thanks and Regards

So I'm 90% sure its the power line for the A/F heater circuit.

Not an ideal circuit to leech power from.

    Oh look, another mod....
I'm 93% sure, that you're 90% sure. There's a spot available to add another 15a fuse. Why not hard wire one in and power up your panty droppin' hood skewp light that way?

So then where would this extra fuse be - so that I could proper power up my "panty droppin' hood skewp light" ?? Actually - I just wanted skirts lifted, but panties down will do.

My understanding is that there are no fuses or potential fuse positions in the under-hood fuse box that are only powered under certain conditions, i.e. they are always powered. Only at the under-dash fuse box will you find ACC or RUN power only. I believe, won't state for certain that any of the connectors that plug into the fuse box from the top like you are showing are engine related. Don't have an answer for you.

    You are 100% correct.

Op, check your fuse panel inside of the truck. There may be an unused slot just below the 7.5A USB that's receiving ignition power.

Thanks Toycoma2021 & ktbell444 for realistic answers. I also am considering this Black wire pictured as it is ignition sourced and nice and thick. Easy to tap into with a inline 3 amp. fuse without harming the integrity of the wire. I can test the lights before committing and if it triggers a check engine light - I can then head towards the interior fuse panel ??

That connector is EB4 for towing.
Black is ignition on for battery charging, blue is brake (for vehicles produced Sep 2019 and up, before Sep 2019 the colors are swapped).
Both go to the trailer socket.

ktbell444 THANK-YOU SIR !!! That is perfect !!! I did tempory wire the lights to it and added a couple more for overkill and ran a few errands with no adverse effects. Now I will wire it proper and stay protected with the 3 amp fuse. I'm pretty sure the guy that likes panties learned something also. Shame people have to act that way on these forums. A real BigShot Nothing in my opinion. Kindest Regards Scott

Now that is sweet. You’re gonna have to do a step by step explanation of this now.

Hi And thank-you for a nice compliment. I purchased the lights via EBay https://www.ebay.com/itm/203943842525?var=504397281563. I went with the 6" ones - thus the center filler lamp which is a grid type interior lamp, but the 9" should fit just fine without the center light. Mounted them to the back side of the scoop grill. Ran my wiring down through the hood along the left inner fender and used an inline fuse before tapping into the Black wire shown. I also just tapped into each front turn signal (all connections soldered). Grounded everything to the hood scoop mounting nut. Used a 4 gang plug at the scoop for quick disconnect and removal. Take your time, and all wiring is well hidden. Used a clear soft rubber hose for the transition from the hood to the fender where it is exposed when open. Don't rely on the adhesive mounting tape for the lights. Be very careful, as panties could start droppen out of nowhere !! Regards Scott
