Does anyone else have a hard time seeing their dash (Speedometer & tach) during the daytime? Seems the light illumination only comes on when it’s dark outside. Or am I missing a switch to turn on the illumination when DRL’s are on?

You can increase & set the brightness from the menu section or the pointy black button thing on the dash itself.

Not sure if this helps. The dash brightness decreases when you have your headlights on. You can disable this by enabling “daylight mode” in the head unit settings.

Seems to me the "Daylight" mode option is only visable when the truck thinks it is nighttime. Look for the setting in the Head Unit when it is dark.

The dash lights are designed to not come on with just the DRLs so that people won't drive around at night with just them on. Setting daylight mode or turning the brightness knob won't help much when the dash lights are off. You'll have to turn on the parking or headlights if you want the dash brighter.

If you are in DRL mode, there is no dash backlighting. It isn’t adjustable.
I have the same issue, sometimes if it really bugs me I just run in parking light mode .

It's funny that they walked that back. The 2nd gen had self-illuminating gauges. My Celica has self-illuminating gauges. The Scion I learned to drive in, had self-illuminating gauges. They look way better IMO but to your point, they aren't idiot-proof enough to keep people from driving dark. I see it all the time with rental cars.

I hate that I cant see the dash during the day without having my lights on... like who though dark gray on black was the best option for something you need to read, then you get a little dust on the cover and you cant see anything without the lights on.

I usually just leave my headlights on all the time now so I can see.

Idk I see the gauges just fine, except a few rare occasions at dusk. I have my auto headlight sensitivity set to -2, so it's my own fault anyway.

Just flip on the parking or headlamps...problem solved.

My polarized Oakley sunglasses prevent me from seeing the screen. I guess I’ll just run the damn head lights during the day. Any issue with battery drain if I leave the switch on when the truck is off all night?

I just leave my lights on all the time. I live in FL and we can go from sunny to really stormy in a matter of seconds. My truck doesn’t automatically turn on the lights when it rains so it’s safer to just leave the lights on. The dash lights being on is a plus
