Always hot 12V power…still no solution

    So I’m still searching for the way to have both 12V outlets in my truck remain hot after I turn my truck off. Mine is a 2017 Tacoma SR5 ATM 2WD.

    I took off the panels below the steering wheel, and located a couple of relays that I couldn’t figure out what they went to. I looked in the wiring diagram book and I’m such a novice that most of it made no sense to me. Also, why would I have a 4WD fuse in the block that’s in the cab?

    Here’s a photo just in case someone knows what these are and might could direct me how to get always hot on both power supplies! Appreciate you in advance.BF612036-367B-4554-AFA8-3A2B1F970EEE.jpg

    Pull it, see if you get a CEL.:burp:
    Since you have a 2WD, it's just taking up space (spare)
    But on a 4WD:

    Couple things. My mirrors aren’t heated, what’s a CEL and do you know how I can get an always hot power outlet?

    Right under the drivers kick panel is the trailer brake pigtail. If you are not using a trailer brake controller there is non-keyed power. Been using it for years for USB charging. @daveeasa made a killer little power harness for me to replace this bare spade that I initially used.

    Why not just replace them with nicer ones and wire direct to battery?

    I’m direct to battery on my 3G now for interior circuits including seat heat. Great option, especially if dual battery so you can isolate.

    The upside of the brake controller is ease of access. No run through the firewall and it’s already fused. Good starter choice to get something going quickly. I used mine for interior power for a while before I did the run through the firewall.

    ...and you should lower the fuse to 20 amps (smallest that is available to that fuse slot/location)[Towing Brake circuit]

    There's also a direct from battery circuit (20amp) not used if your vehicle has no sliding roof.

    search for the thread/threads on wiring up a bed 12v power port. Some AWESOME info there, and is what your looking for. All you need to do is hook it straight to the battery with the proper wiring/fuse block, etc.
