Hey Guys! We wanted to take some time and show everyone what goes into manufacturing a set of our Dirt King Fabrication upper control arms. With the exception of powder coat, everything is done in house at our facility in San Diego, CA

The first step in production starts at our laser department. Here, all the necessary material will be laser cut and then bent on our CNC press break

After a QC check in the laser department the arms will get moved to our welding department. First the outer shells get welded. Then the arm goes in a fixture to get the bushing sleeves, bearing cups, and any necessary tabbing welded together.

From the welding department the next stop is the deburring department. Here, any imperfections in the arm such as welding slag, scratches, etc will be removed and the arm is prepared for powder coat. A visual QC inspection is performed and then the arm is sent off to be finished in Dirt King Fabrication‘s signature satin black.

After the arm is returned from powder coat it will be brought into our receiving department. The arms will undergo another round of QC ensuring that the parts are within our tolerance and there are no imperfections in the powder coat. The arms then go to a staging area to await assembly.

The assembly department is where the arm will be assembled and packaged. The bearings will get pressed in then the bushings will get greased and assembled. Once assembled the arms will get wrapped and placed in a box along with the loose contents. A final QC inspection is performed to ensure all the correct items and quantities are present before sealing the box.

Love seeing this kind of stuff!

I didn't take part in the LCA group buy our dear friend Rick had put together, and have been kicking myself since. Years later, still dealing with seized stock lowers and looking forward to finally pulling the trigger. Soon. Cant wait!
