Post #2 today, I was busy! I chopped off my exhaust today after contemplating for awhile. It came out clean and I threw the black exhaust tip back on the end and it's a great tucked away look. The sound didn't change one bit, despite some saying it would. And as for the exhaust fumes, I'm really not too worried with it that far back under the bed, and I don't sit and idle for long periods of time anyway.
I did the work on the street in front of my house with an angle grinder...someone definitely thought I was stealing a CAT.

Just curious what your thought process was in doing this. You didn't like the look of it sticking out the side by passenger rear tire? Was that the only reason?

Also off topic but did the left side of your diff take a hit? Looks like there is a crease unless its just a weird shadow or something. Good story behind that?

I know a big selling point for the Magnaflow that you can get for the Tacoma is that it raises the one of the lowest points of the underbody, if you were looking for clearance. So you don't end up with a crumpled ehaust tip.

I was going to cut mine for clearance but I've never hit it so I guess I don't have to

During technical off roading the passenger side rear wheel can roll off a drop, the truck moves forwards, and the earth hits the exhaust top shoving it into the sheet metal.

Yeah for the reasons everyone said, clearance. Also it does look better hidden in my opinion.

As for the crease in the diff, I think they all have that on both sides!
