    I can't say I have a typical playlist.

Today was Nanci Griffith, Radney Foster & Asleep at the Wheel -- kind of a Texas trio, then The Ramones.

That's the nice part about Amazon Music. It starts playing similar things to what I listen to. That way I get introduced to things like Trombone Shorty and Brass Against.

I only had one car with a loud muffler and it was a total pile of poo

Now that last one is not exactly what I was expecting when I was starting to read that list

Marky Ramone was the drummer in an early rock band before punk; a band called Dust. Marky was just 20 in 1972 when their second album came out (I thought was better than the first). Drumming was completely more complex in those two albums compared to his work in punk rock.

There is someone I’ve heard that turns metal into lullabies. Good stuff…

Father was a rockhound, so plenty rocks around here too. Massive boulder of petrified wood. Opals, malachite, all kinds of things…
Somehow ended up with penguins galore!

For the poll I’ve dabbled in a few. Did the knife thing briefly but stopped. Have some plates from all the different states I lived in that didn’t require me to return. Have a few guns, would like more but $$$. Vehicles are my reg curse. I rarely hold on to vehicles but for some reason love my Tacoma. Got it new and have had it longer than any other vehicle yet far. Mostly just a money pull/ loss of interest.

Reading all these artists and here I am thinking… I love it! I’m extremely eclectic, so my taste is everywhere. I’m a strong proponent of put it on shuffle.

When I was young I couldn't afford any real gear, my first "system" was cobbled together junk scavenged from clean up day -- a Philco amplifier from a broken portable record player and about 4 broken BSR turntables made into one. I had a LLoyds portable 8 track player (mono) with a Radio Shack Y cable plugged into the earphone jack.

My first real stereo was an 1965 RCA console that I bought at a yard sale for $40 -- they had value back then. It wasn't the last word in high fidelity but it sure was loud.

As the years passed by I acquired more and more stuff, consumer mid-fi gear -- no McIntosh, etc... I find it in corners and closets, noisy receivers and blown speakers to repair "in my free time". :ballchain:

Some of it actually works which is good because I'm a Wrenchman not a Technician, I can grease a CD player or spray some DeOxit on a noisy control but that is about it.

I find them. There is a quarry in the next county over where they get those rocks with the circle and star. I would find them in parking lots as I would be out and about selling fasteners. Often, the best time to find them was when it rained, because the white stands out. What's interesting is that the outer gray is limestone, but the circle and star are a smoother, finer grained, slightly shiny rock.

The crystalline quartz happened to be a rock I kicked and I saw the glitter.
Opal! Man...I wish I could find an opal. That's my favorite gemstone. :pout:

My wife used to have a piece of petrified wood, but I don't think it made the move.

The very late 60's to about 1980 were the golden age of Japanese equipment. Mostly well built, easy to operate and beautiful to look at, never again will we see consumer products like that.

There are technicians out there who can go through an old amp or receiver, replace any aged components (capacitors mostly) and tune it to work like new.

These guys get a good buck for their work and have long waiting lists but your gear comes back performing like new and will be good for another 40 years.

Advent: Henry Kloss -- Did a lot to put simple to use high fidelity in the hands of the common man, interesting guy.

It all started out innocently enough. Owner of the Music store asked me if I could help dust on Saturday & maybe Sunday. The piano’s & organs were OK but once I found out what behind that always locked basement hifi room changed my life. Lookin’ back, all of it was seriously hi end stuff. So I guess I got play without the pay part.

I know, right haha. Basically its more cost effective to do it that way, It's a 6205 with the inside diameter ground a different size. The problem is that on lesser quality bearings they only mark the box (which is usually a qty of 10 or more) not the bearing itself. Therefore you end up with the same part number on the bearing and or seal, with the designation for rubber or metal seals (or no seals) but they don't add the designation for the custom ground ID. It's easy for the manufacturer or wholesaler to mix them up, or not even realize they are selling the wrong bearing. I spent an hour at a bearing house with a dial caliper the first time I ran into this. It didnt make any sense to me then either

Which is why I only get bearings direct from a manufacturer with traceable lot numbers.
