LED's for license plate

I've seen many YouTube videos of people changing out their yellowish license plate lights for LED's. Some people are simply switching the tiny bulb to LED while others opt for a complete housing unit like those sold by Tacoma Lifestyle that snap-in and fit just like the OEM's. My question is this: To those of you who have LED's in this location, how does it affect your back-up camera? Do the LED's tend to wash-out the camera or be too bright to see behind the truck? My Tacoma is arriving with LED's up front and on the interior. I'd just like to have LED's on the license plate as well. Let me hear your thoughts...

 

I use Diode Dynamics HP3 per @memario1214’s recommendation. It does not wash out the back-up camera and provides adequate lighting to my needs.

 

There are mods that will delete your license plate lights while in reverse to not have any camera glare if that is a concern

what interior LED’s is it coming with?


I just use VLED for both my trucks. The replacement housing seem nice, but it’s a license plate….

 

I requested the OEM factory LED interior package from Toyota

 

Just buy the tag light disable in reverse harness from @daveeasa and get tag lights as bright as you want.

 

Hmm I didn’t know that was an option, but admittedly haven’t shopped details in while. I’d think many around here would be all ewww ewww ewww over that option.

 

It's an option in the southeast region, not sure about others. The bulbs are meh at best. White but dim.
