2003 taco 5spd m/t, can I deactivate the rev limiter without screwing up the computer? Has anyone else done this? Is it worth turning off?

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
What year did this start? Just what are you hoping to gain??

Go back in time to before they were installed.

I know none of my 3.4`s have any .

Do not turn off your rev limiter, it's there to save your engine if you do something stupid. By the time it kicks in, your engine isn't going to make anymore power anyways most of the time, there is always a point where both HP and torque start falling off.

My 04 definitely has one, learned that the other day when I accidentally put my Husky floor mat in too quickly and didn't realize it was pressing down the gas the pedal.

Started the truck and OH hey look, I have a rev limiter

    in other words, this ^^^

    Interesting I learned something new.

Just curious what rpm does it stop at?

Whatever the redline is marked at on the tach, off the top of my head I think it's 5500 or 5600?

Not sure why anyone would want to get rid of the limiter unless you're trying to blow up your engine. The limiter is set where redline is and redline is there for good reason, unless you've upgraded your engine internals

    Before computer controlled engines.

I would say the rpm was limited by the mechanical limits of valves and cam.

That is going back 45 years off the top of my head at one time I did know for sure.

Would it be okay to raise the max rpm?

Too many trucks and mods to list.. check builds
on a stock engine, raising rpm 200-300 rpm is likely safe. but without performance cams.. you will gain literally nothing.. these engines are built around low end. they dont do top end too well without modification inside the engine
    (or boost)
