I think they did just check, for the sake of checking, after the install..
    Here's a thread about it:

Mine never gets hot. Maybe he was low on fluid but it looks like the thread never went anywhere.

    Stop overthinking it.

    OK, this is funny.

Got the truck on the lift today. Have the bushing in the freezer, everything is ready to go. Pull the CV, and what's in there? A bushing!! hah. I always wondered if it was in there, because SOO many people w/ modified trucks have it. And, yes. It's there.

I didn't build the vehicle.. "Mainline Overland" did, for someone else.. And I bought it from him a few years ago. I have a thick binder of invoices for everything, and none mention the bushing.

currently sitting at 125k miles on my ECGS bushing using 75w-90 synthetic oil in diffs and tcase over the life of the truck.

    ZERO ISSUES.

Front diff oil came out decently clean at 60k miles, insanely clean at 120k miles - so clean that ill be upping the next oil change from what would be at 180k (60k mi OCI) to 200k (80k mi OCI).

Doesnt surprise me the truck already had the bushing tbh, it was probably just subconscious that the builder did it when the lift was installed.

I'll chime in since I have it installed too. 30k on it using 75/90. Happy to report No Issues! Doesn't run hot, or anything like that.

Mine has only been in about 10K but I just did and axel reboot, wheel bearings and all the seals and the all looked good when removed.

I don't know how long mine's been in.. At most about 80k miles! If it was installed when they did the lift and camper and all.. Looks good as new. But I don't know when it was installed.

I put in ecgs bushing probably a little over a year ago but there seems to still be a lot of play and the new seal I put in is leaking. Wondering if the play in CV wore out seal already?

Those instances of odd symptoms post ECGS change could be a number of things. Before I'd consider anything but an outlier I'd expect some corroborating accounts from others esp on a site like this where there's a large number of people that have installed them and drive lots of miles in tacomas.

    That play looks normal.
How far in did you drive seal?
Flush is good. In any further and they tend to leak.

What weight gear oil did you use?
Has it ever leaked out of the breather under the hood?

I believe I set the seal flush. It's been over a year and I just noticed it leaking. I used 75W90. Hasn't leaked out of the breather. I'm currently out of town working and called the local Toyota dealership here to see if they could change the seal they told me it would cost $630 to change a $29 seal that it takes 4.5 hours. I'm pretty sure when I did this last I didn't have to even remove the CV from the hub I just had to undo the 2 bolts on the lower control and was able to remove the CV from pumpkin to get to the seal. Half tempted to buy couple jack stands and do it in their parking lot thinking it would take be about an hour laying on the ground in the cold. Dealerships are such crooks.
