sub'd.. been lookin for a thread with other machinists and tinkerers..

I program and run 5 and 3 Axis Mills for a living.. and for fun. Lots of time in CAD playing ideas. I also play with 3D printing at home and generally love Design and Engineering.

some random work projects over the last few weeks..








And today's part in the machine right now.. Mill op after Lathe. Got it all done and deburred in 1 op in the 5-Axis.

You really need to have a good stereo tech go through, refresh and align it, expensive sure but you will have a wonderful performing and sounding piece of gear that will give you enjoyment for decades.

The stereo techs don't really get kits, they match them up and replace/upgrade individually.

I had a 70's Schwinn Varsity Sport with 27" rims -- man alive was that bike heavy .
On the flat in 10th gear it would roll along at 30 mph -- I was a lot younger...

 

I always think if you wake up and say "I'm going to have a bad day" you almost assuredly will, if you say "I'm going to try and have a good day" -- sometimes there is a chance you will.

On a side note: I opened my mailbox, the postman (lady) was generous with the bills today...

Put in 12 today and mowed the yard, I earned these colbers this fine evening . I'm trying to hit 60 this week and stick it to em. But Uncle Sam is really the one who wins.

 

Those were some beasts of a bike frame. Thick wall tubing made them heavy but like you said, once up to speed the mass kept them moving.
