Hey everyone, I have a 17 TRD Pro, and it recently has started stalling when I brake slightly harder than normal. This has never happened before, in the 3 days prior to the first time it happened, i did an oil change, I had new brake pads, rotors and brake fluid change 2 days prior and finally, a new tank of gas there was a small rain storm the day I tanked up the gas, was the day it happened. I tanked up on gas, and drove to run some errands, en route, it stalled when I was braking. The stalling is not all the time, but rather every few days, sometimes I am braking and downshifting, other times I have clutched in and I am braking and it stalls.

No check engine lights or codes or anything else alarming? Does it idle rough? I had this happen in an older manual transmission car and it had to do with idle air control unit. I'm still learning everything with the Tacoma so I'm not 100% sure how the idle works on these trucks.

This and cleaning the mass airflow sensor might help.

Id start with looking at the gas and battery terminal . Could take a side off the filter let drain into a bottle see what it looks like idk if your braking might slosh the gas around and draw water if water. Or just dump some stable and maybe octane booster. Burn it out. Next on the list electrical how your battery/alt. They on tight enough? If you slam on the brakes and your positive battery cable is loose the force from you braking might move the battery and cable causing the stall.

That’s not a typical issue. We need more information. Are you braking hard enough to lower the engine rpm so low that it cannot run anymore?

you mean you've got the clutch pedal to the floor, so the engine is free, and it still stalls?
