Are cardan joints any different from other ujoints for my 04 Tacoma prerunner standard cab? Realize a little more trouble to install but I want the correct ujoints before taking driveshaft to machine shop for install. Thanks

Yes they are different. While a part number does exist for the u joints in the cardan, it's widely considered to not be serviceable. Most shops will cut it out and replace it. Unless you have reason to believe the joints are toast, it's best to just replace the other two.

Also, be aware that the yokes on the Tacoma drive shaft are tapered, and it makes installing the new caps (squarely) a huge pain the ass. See Timmy's video for the complete story.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
    Find a drive shaft shop.

some rebuild the cardon joints some replace .

The tapered yokes is why my drive shaft shop does all my drive shaft work cheaper then I can buy the parts .
