I cleaned & checked the PVC a few weeks ago.
Something's clogged alright though, because according to my new OBDII tool, I'm stuck in a closed loop.

I have had wet engine dirt and deep poodles drip into the second day. To me it looks like a water oil mix from the color like the condensation you get on the oil filler cap sometimes.

With the engine running are you getting air puffs out of the removed oil fill cap.

the dye is a good idea.

When was the last time all your codes and test cycles were cleared ?

It feels non-diluted. Thing is it's also mixing with the wool wax, which is lanolin based. Seems every time I go out, I get a few small spots on the floor or ground. It doesn't just drip away.
I'll check the air poofs tomorrow.
I cleared the P0505 code (only one I had) five days ago? Still all clear after trips with varying speeds, terrain, etc. Still idling high & a little rough. I'm just learning how to use the scanner, so tomorrow I'll run it with the fuel trims, 02, a/f & hopefully get some lessons on interpreting. Oh, & I'll get some dye.

You can check for cam plug leaks at the back of VC using a small inspection mirror, first time I did VC gaskets I did not know about cam plugs and new VC gaskets stopped leaks onto exhaust mani but did not help much at rear of engine because of cam plugs. It sounds like you replaced those but might not hurt to check if you have the mirror.

When my 04 taco was new to me, I found oil forming a bead at the bottom of my bell housing. Using a mirror, I was able to see oil/grime towards the rear of my valve cover. Brought it to my mechanic and he replaced the rear cam plugs and the gasket on the oil cooler. No leaks since (knock on wood). Good luck!

So I decided to do the cv axle seal before doing anything else. Even though I was convinced it was engine oil, I thought it best to eliminate the cv seal. It may be too soon to tell, but it may have been it after all. I am baffled though at the differing colors despite both seeming clean & the obvious gets oil odor vs not.
Anyway, stay tuned as I may be back reviving said thread. Hopefully not though
So I’m keeping with the positivity I am known for, I will now say a thank you to you all for your help :)

engine oil smells nothing like gear oil .

then maybe the sheep juice makes everything smell like a wet sheep.

    good luck

right. That’s why I have been convinced most of it was engine oil. Distinctly different smells.

Is your oil filter dry? My last leak repaired was the orings on the oil filter housing that's bolted to the block.
