Own 2018 Tacoma SR5 36,000+ miles. Ran tank low on gas and just filled up with gas and tank is not registering a full tank and low gas waring ran down to zero miles left .

Any idea what it could be?

    thanks

    Joe

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
If your 'Miles to Empty' ran down to zero that's no big deal. I've gone multiple miles past MTE will no ill effect.
Assuming that the auto nozzle clicked off when you filled up, your gauge should indicate Full. If not, then either it needs a bit more time or you didn't really bring to Full or your gauge is effed up.

The gas gauge shows empty after I filled up. And still shows empty after driving home 10 miles on a full tank.

Are you sure you actually put gas in the tank? Maybe some rando grabbed the handle and put it in his tank while you were inside buying edibles.

If you are sure the tank is full, try unhooking the Negative battery cable for a couple of minutes and see is the gas gauge comes back happy.

I don’t think the sending unit was part of it, but did you have the fuel pump recall done?
