Florida Road Trip (what am I missing?)

I'm heading through Florida for a work trip and taking some extra days to explore. Despite a convention in Orlando (ICAST), I'll be on back roads along the Panhandle from Tallahassee downward. I'm stopping by Wakulla Springs to swim and eat. I hope to hit Deal's in Perry and explore the old Hampton Springs Hotel site. If time permits I'll swing by Econfina Fish Camp (my childhood fishing paradise). I'll be hitting Itchetucknee Springs for a day of floating and then catch a show in Gainesville with some friends.

Is there anything else I should check out with time permitting?

 

Sounds like fun! I would like to come along and do those things..... Nice.
I'm in central Fl, the attractions are the main tourist trap, the natural springs around all over are beautiful, but crowded, get there really early to park.

Good call. I forget how packed it gets. I'll be in an AirBnB near Itchetucknee so I'll get over there asap to get a good float in before it gets packed.

 

I lived in Perry 3 years over 30 years ago. No doubt old man Deal is long gone.

But I'd be interested to hear if the door is still locked and you have to knock to enter.

Then greeted with 'the finest people in the world walk through that door'.

Assuming they let you in.
