    That's my point. It was lazy design. You would still have the same safety without shutting off if the key is in range. You can't just break a window and climb into the car without the key and drive away. It'll still shutdown when you hit the brake. So all shutting down with the fob in range does is annoy the owner.

    Looks like Toyota agrees with me too... this irks me more than it reasonably should.

    This probably opens the door for a solution to be created for model years older than 2023. Just emulate whatever they did in the 2023s to make it work...no?
